The Community nurses from Good Samari- tan Hospital in Vincennes came to the first grade classrooms with their Germbusters program. They presented a fun lesson about proper hand- washing techniques. The students got to check their hands under the black light and received a treat bag to take home. The second graders in Jackie Henson's class read books to the kindergarten classes. Otwell Miller Academy Fifth grade students at Otwell Miller Academy are working on confident communication through the D.A.R.E. program by completing activities, discussions and group work in their D.A.R.E. books. Fifth grade students at Otwell Miller Acade- my are completing group work in their D.A.R.E. books. The students love the D.A.R.E. program. Pike County Sheriff Kent Johnson stopped by to speak to OMA students about the D.A.R.E. pro- gram. Jaelynn Miley is the fifth grade winner of the OMA Bookmark Competition. Go, Jaelynn. The fifth grade girls are displaying their bookmarks. Another activity was Pair-Share Reading and Discussion among different groups. The fifth graders read to second graders and vice versa. Then they discussed what the story was about and a lesson they learned from the book they shared or the actual sharing experi- ence.
