Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10 :30 a.m. What if we lived without excuse? No really? What if instead of giving an excuse, we lived fully, and confident- ly, and stopped hindering our lives with excuses? Moses is such an important character in the narrative arch of the old testament. And I was re- minded earlier as great as Moses was, he had much fault. In fact, when God called him to one of the greatest missions, he said no! Moses told God no. Sure, I know you are God, but I have a simple speech impediment. I know you are the God of the uni- verse, you can do all things, but I have these things in my way. But God, being faithful, as he always is, reminds Mo - ses, I am, and I will be with you. When you don't have the words, say 'I Am' sent you, I will go before you. Live with- out excuses, God has shown us over and over that he is faithful to go before us, but are we willing to listen, to trust, and obey? DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. "Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out" (Proverbs 20 :5). Reading the Bible, although a good thing, is not enough. Application and practice are essential, as well as offering hope to others. Just because we have information doesn't always mean we know how to use it for good. This is why the Holy Spirit is important, to point out the proper appli- cation for the individual cir- cumstance. Remember that the dev- il knows scripture, too. He is busy trying to overthrow God by confusing us and getting us off track or side tracked. Fo- cus on what God is telling you this minute, and obey God. Putting God's word to work in your life will create a good change that attracts others in need of hope. Be on the look- out for them and for the oppor- tunity to share that hope. With the thought of Easter, we're planning our second an- nual Easter egg hunt for Sat- urday, April 11, more details to come. Sunday morning servic- es are in the midst of a se- ries called Biblical Charac- ters Sometimes Forgotten. We started by examining the story of Gideon found in Judges 6 -7. Last Sunday, we examined a man named Me- phibosheth (II Samuel 9, 19). If you missed any part of the series, the sermon messages are available on our website (www.crossroadsoc.org). Everyone is welcome at Crossroads. This week we will be introduced to another new biblical character that is sometimes forgotten. Also, re- member that we're still study- ing Esther each Wednesday. This week we will begin chap- ter 5, which will mark the half- way point of the study. Howev- er, there is much more to dis- cuss, so it's not too late to at- tend. "Stand fast in the Lord" (Philippians 4:1). A bar of raw steel may be purchased for a few dol- lars. But when a bar of steel has been thrust into the fires and processed, when it has been tempered and forged and made into tiny watch springs for expensive watches, it is worth thou- sands of dollars. Fire and the skilled hands of master artisans made the differ- ence enhancing the value. Just as the sun by its heat and light performs a thousand miracles a day in the plant kingdom. God, through His refining fire of His Spirit, performs a thou- sand miracles a day in the spiritual realm. His regen- erating power can take the dull and ordinary things of our lives, even the burned- out ashes of our past, and forge them into something useful, even beautiful, for His purposes. What a wonderful power- ful service we had this past Sunday. The singing was so spirit-filled, both young and older. We have several who are sick or not feeling well, keep them in your prayers. If at any time you don't have a church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will leave be blessed. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter
