The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, March 11, 2020 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued in next column Methodist can just glue it back in. Our Sunday school lesson concerned giving our best as we worship our Lord. Worship service should never be a fash- ion show nor should it be com- pletely dress down time, but what a person wears is not as important as being obedient to the word of the Lord. So put on your best self daily, not just on church day. The scripture lesson con- cerned knowledge and wis- dom, and there was a com- parison made to the love of God in our lives. We used ma- ny verses to look at the knowl- edge of the Lord written in the Holy Bible and then read, un- derstood and applied to our lives, so we may lead a life which will be satisfying to God. I'm sure God would nev- er be pleased with my life, but I feel strongly that He is satis- fied with my feeble attempts. Well, I hope and pray you find peace of mind by allow- ing God to have control of your heart. Don't get so pre- occupied with other concerns that you can't feel nor hear the Spirit of God speaking to you. He is always with us, but at times we fail to recognize His voice and love. Now get out of your comfort zone and be a blessing. LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 601 S. 9th Street, Petersburg Phone: 812-809-4544 Sunday study from 9 -9:35 a.m.; Sunday service at 10 a.m.; Wednesday service from 6:30 -8 p.m. and Rise Youth Ministry (6th-12th grade) Thursday evening 7-8:30 p.m. "Those who forgive faults foster love, but those who re- peatedly recall them ruin re- lationships" (Proverbs 17:9). It's not always easy to for- give others of their faults, es- pecially when those "faults" hurt us or those we love. God wants us to realize that we have our own faults. Maybe our faults don't seem as bad to us as other's faults. God wants us to love others as He loves us. Our forgiveness isn't say- ing that what the person did is okay with us. It's about lov- ing God and them enough to say, "what right do I have to hold another person's weak- ness against them, when my Father in heaven forgives me over and over again? " God needs each one of us to support and love the others. As you spend time with your heavenly Father today, ask Him who you need to forgive. Praise is a heart response which expresses adoration and gratefulness. The attitude and practice of praise trans- forms our lives into a Psalm of praise, which glorifies God. The Lord deserves our praise. We are commanded to praise Him. (Psalms 150). Why? He is majestic (Psalms 96:1). He is glorious (Psalms 138:5). He is excellent (Psalms 148:13). He is powerful (Psalms 21:13). He exercises lovingkindness (Psalms 63:3). He provides salvation (Psalms 18:46). He comforts (Psalms 42:5). He judges (Psalms 101:1). He counsels (Psalms 16:7). He exercises mercy (Psalms 118:1-4). He forgives (Psalms 103:1-3). He protects (Psalms 28:7). He delivers (Psalms 40 :1-3). He answers prayer (Psalms 28:6). Thanks to Jesus, we have permanent access to God's forgiveness. Jesus called Him- self, "the light of the world" and said whoever follows Him "will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" ( John 8:12). When we confess our sins, God forgives us and we're seen through the light of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. This means that God sees us as He sees Jesus—blameless. We don't have to wallow in the guilt and shame of what we've done wrong. Instead, we can hold on to the truth of God's forgiveness, which makes us "white as snow"— Linda Washington. What does it mean to be completely forgiven? What helps you remember that God has forgiven you? "Heavenly Father, thank you for the forgiveness You freely offer"—Amen. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righ- teousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that passes all understanding—He is in con- trol. Facebook: White River Chapel UMC, Jeff Pinney. Pentecostal at 10 :15 a.m.; Sunday school classes at 11 a.m. Second Thursday of each month, Bible study at 6 p.m. Have you really realized what Jesus, the Son of God, did for mankind. If you study the Word of God and see all that He suffered for you, be- cause He loved you, there could possibly be a change in your thinking, if you do not know Him as your Lord and Saviour. I pray that if you read this that you will read the Bi- ble and that change comes your way. There is peace and joy in knowing Him as savior. Be blessed this week. Pray for our president and all government entities, and also for those in nursing homes, hospitals, loved ones and your neighbors. Go forth and reach a life for Jesus this week. In God's Service. George Bruce, Jr., Pastor 15 will be Body Wash. So Easy to Complain But the people thirsted there for water, and the peo- ple murmured against Moses, and said, "Why did you bring us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cat- tle with thirst? " So Moses cried to the Lord, "What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me." "Behold, I will stand be- fore you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it that the people may drink." And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Isra- el. And he called the name of the place Massa and Merib- ah, because of the faultfind- ing of the children of Israel, and because they put the Lord to the proof by saying, "Is the Lord among us or not" (Exo- dus 17:3-7)? Asking a question like this in the view of the many mir- acles God had performed to prove he was in their midst and after seeing the daily manifestation of God in the fire and cloud was provok- ing to say the least. It made no difference how much unbe- lief was present, God was not limited by it. We as Christians should not be hindered or de- feated by any like condition. God bless. Michael (Mike) Punke, Pastor Paula Mann, Administra- tive Assistant Methodist Nazarene 6 p.m. This time of year is good for reflection. Jesus lived a very simple life in a small commu- nity. He calls us to come out of our little lives and communi- ties to jump into the deep and serve Him. He calls us all. Not only will He equip you, but He will make your life better. Turn to Him, so that you can truly be a witness for Him. Good St. Patrick On March 17, many church- es, especially those with a large Irish population, will celebrate the life of St. Pat- rick. He grew up in a Christian home in Britain, but wasn't very religious until a major event changed his life. As a teen, he was captured and sold into slavery in Ireland, but escaped to Gaul (France) after six years. The years of enslavement strengthened his faith. He later wrote, "In that daily (Psalms 68:19). Chad Searls, Pastor strange land (Ireland), the Lord opened my unbelieving eyes." He was led by God's voice to return to Ireland, where he converted people to Christianity tribe by tribe. Because Ireland is called the Emerald Isle, those who celebrate St. Patrick's Day will wear something green. Some Christians will even color food or drink green. Many Chris- tians will eat corned beef and cabbage and decorate tables with shamrocks. Shamrocks are actually three-leaf (not four-leaf ) clover plants. Leg- end has it that St. Patrick used the three leaves to teach about the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Don't quit, keep playing A mother wishing to en- courage her young son's progress on the piano took him to a Paderewski con- cert. When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother noticed that her child was missing. Suddenly, the cur- tains parted and the mother saw her little boy was sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out "Twinkle, Twin- kle Little Star." At that mo- ment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano and whis- pered in the boy's ear, "Don't quit. Keep playing." Then, leaning over, Pa- derewski reached down and added a running obliga- to. Together, the old master and the young novice trans- formed a wonderfully cre- ative experience. That's the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't exactly graceful flow- ing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life's work truly can be beautiful. Next time you set out to ac- complish great feats, listen carefully. You can hear the voice of the Master, whisper- ing in your ear, "Don't quit. Keep playing." We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter
