Thompson, 62, of Arling- ton, passed away Satur- day, March 16, 2019, at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born in Mayfield, Ky., on July 10, 1956, to the late Wayne and Helen Ivie Thompson. He was retired from Triad Mining, where he worked as a coal miner. He attended New Concord Church in Mayfield. He loved to work, watch old westerns, rabbit hunt and play cards with friends. He is survived by his partner, Debbie Stamper; his children, Wendy (Ry- an Hartke) Thompson, of Stendal, and Lyle ( Jessi- ca) Thompson, of Owens- boro, Ky.; four grandchil- dren, Trevor Clark, Mad- die Thompson, Lauren (Scott) Johns and Whitney Hartke; one great-grand- child, Wren Johns; and his siblings, Steve Thompson of Owensboro, and Karen Thompson, of Mayfield. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home. Purdue Extension hands- on make and take garden- ing and microgreen produc- tion with guest Jill Hyne- man, drone demonstration with guest Ryan Benner, of Pike County Emergency Management, decoupage make and take craft, make and eat cake decorating. Starting at 11 a.m., ce- ramics option is $10, youth will have a ready to enter in- to the fair ceramics project (must attend both days to complete). At noon, lunch of hot dogs and fries (free) will be served. Games will be available to play. Youth ages 12 and up will have the opportunity to build their resume and practice skills for summer jobs like babysitting, lawn care, pet care and house cleaning. Registration is required. Jones speaks at Homegrown 4-H Club Homegrown 4-H Club had a special guest at their March meeting, Sergeant Justin Jones with the In- diana National Guard. He answered questions about military life and taught the 4-Hers the science be- hind MREs (Meals Ready To Eat). The following is a report of the meeting from Home- grown's Club Reporter Ro- salie Smith. At the March meeting of the Homegrown 4-H Club, Sergeant Jones dem- onstration to the club how to make an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). The MRE tasted very good, and the other kids enjoyed theirs also. The club also made birthday cards for River Harbin. Pike County 4-H Home- grown Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at the 4-H Building at the Pike County Fairgrounds.
