She had been un- der the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. She was born on Novem- ber 8, 1932, in Carbon, Ind. She was one of three chil- dren born from the union of the late William D. Craig and the late Iva (Mahurin) Craig. She was a graduate of Winslow High School and as a young woman, she enlist- ed in the United States Ma- rine Corps. She served her country and fellow corps as an entertainer. She was hon- orably discharged on April 1, 1952. For several years, she continued entertaining by running her own T V/Ra- dio show. She would work in this capacity as a contrac- tor until her retirement in 1996. Upon her retirement, she moved back to the Mid- west, making her home in Michigan in order to be clos- er with her grandchildren. Spending time with her family meant the most to her. She would often host holiday gatherings at her home and prepare meals for her family to share. Christ- mas was her favorite holiday and many memories were made singing holiday songs. She was the matriarch of the family. She was proud of her family and her own ac- complishments, and to not miss a single experience or memory, she painstaking- ly cataloged them in a de- tailed diary. When she had free time, she even wrote and printed music. To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter, Terry Opper, of Pennsylva- nia; two brothers, William D. ( Janice) Craig, of Indi- ana, and Thomas (Stella) Craig, of Florida; two grand- children, Deana Gormley, of Monroe, and P.J. Her passing was preced- ed by her parents. No public services have been planned. She has cho- sen to give the gift of knowl- edge to others by bequest- ing herself to the Universi- ty of Michigan Anatomical Donation Program.
