Parker Knust sixth grade at Pike Central Mid- dle School recently qualified to participate in the Evansville Regional Spelling Bee, which will be on March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Academy of Innovative Studies in Evansville. After winning the PCMS spelling bee Parker took an online test to quali- fy for the regional bee. This is Parker's fifth time to attend the Evansville bee, but his first time to qualify as a final round participant of the stage portion of the bee. The winner of the Evansville Regional Spelling Bee will advance to the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Md. Above and below: Mrs. Danette Weis- man's 6th grade class- es experience the Star lab during Sci- ence. The Star lab is an inflatable, portable plan- etarium that helps stu- dents explore the night sky. The fifth graders at Otwell Miller Academy par- ticipate in the D.A.R.E. program with Sheriff Kent Johnson. The fifth graders stated that they like Sheriff Johnson, they are learning, and that the program is fun! First grade has a busy day of hands on learning! They practice adding tens and ones, and make three letter blend words! Olivia Bruner is giv- ing her presentation on an ocean habitat. Mrs. Hoffman's first grade class all know what they want to be when they grow up.
