Winslow Patoka River, as of last Thursday, is right up to the rim, and it has been over its banks. It has rained several days off and on all week with a few days to maybe dry up. Then it brings its friends, sleet and snow, plus one day we had thunder. The temps have been mild with a few winter temps that tried to push their way into the ar- ea for a few days. As Norm and I drove through Pike and Gibson counties the other day, I had to take a double take and ask Norm if I saw what I saw. The answer was yes. We saw a row boat sitting in a yard with two skeletons with life jackets on hold- ing their fishing poles. That is the best lawn or- nament I have ever seen in this area. Check it out on Hwy 57 north of Oak- land City. We also saw where some trees had fell where the tornado came through not long ago. We also saw the flooding along the Patoka River areas on Hwy 57. On Hwy 64, at the Pike-Gibson line, water is, in parts, right up to the road but not over the road as of yet. All of us Winslow Lions met at the Community Center, and in the parking lot we saw a lot of vehicles and some of our Lions were expecting to see a room full of potential Lions, but most of our Lions were out sick. We only had a hand full of Lions there for a great meeting. The crowd of stars who were parked in the parking lot were going to the Winslow Park Board meeting at the same time the Lions had their regular meeting. I hope their meeting went good, and that it becomes a big part of our Winslow area. As the lights begin to dim on this week's ramblings, I hope you all keep an eye on family and friends, slow down and enjoy your area, always be kind and helpful to one another. As al- ways, smile, wave and say Hi to every- one you see this week. REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS Jeanette C. Spaw Estate and Pamela K. Fenwick PR convey to Pamela E. Fenwick, Suzanne C. The closer I get to my deadline the longer my post-gig to-do list gets. And as you can see with my de- ciding to become a com- petitive hot dog eater dur- ing the fast, my list is be- coming more and more ob- scure. Last night, while the stress kept me awake for the 84th day in a row, I decided to dedicate my life to collect- ing disformed gummy bears from their manufacturers. I'm not well. A fter my fast ended in Australia, the Snickers gave me a bellyache. Perhaps the lesson is that rather than in- vite strangers to sell cheese, I should re-enter civilization by having a coffee date with an old friend. And maybe a Snickers on the side.
