Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Sup- per at 10 :30 a.m.; Wednes- day youth group at 6:30 p.m. It is hard to believe that we are already through two months of this year. For ma- ny, this is hardest time of the year. At the beginning you're on fire, you're full of resolve. Your goals are set, you know what you're after, and noth- ing can stop you. In January gym member- ships spikes. If you go to a gym after work in January there are hardly any open parking spaces and inside it's busier than Target or Walmart on Black Friday. But this time of year as we approach the end of the sec- ond month, gym attendance start to lower, maybe not by much, but it's noticeable. Why is this? How is it that just two months ago your re- solve was so firm, you didn't think the gates of hell could previal, but now you start to slack and get discouraged? I think it's the way we handle our goals. We create mara- thon goals, and try to tackle them at a sprint pace. In January we're going to lose 50 lbs in a year, but when we haven't reached half that in two months, discourage- ment sets in. The author of Hebrews speaks of life in terms of a race. Keep run- ning, throw off everything that hinders. This means life is more of a marathon than a sprint. If we want to see results in the health of our families, we have to buckle down for the long haul, rath- er than a short sprint. Don't focus on running fast, focus on running strong. Don't let this year pass wishing you hadn't given up, lace up to run long this year, keep run- ning the race. Everyone welcome. This is one of those scrip- tures that reminds us that sometimes firm words or harsh tones can do more harm than good. Although it is not easy, showing grace, mercy or compassion can heal a person that doesn't even know they need heal- ing. God has placed us as his children under his glo- rious grace, and we should share this with others every chance we get. God asks us to be humble and strong in him. So remember to he- al rather than harm and God will help put the rest in place. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services. Come and wor- ship Jesus with us. Tozer said...As soon as you try to turn the flock, ev- erybody says you're against everything. Of course, I am against the devil. I'm against sin. I'm against worldliness. I'm against the flesh, and I'm against "fake" Christianity. I'm against spiritual igno- rance that tries to harmo- nize Christianity with the world. (It's absolutely futile to do so). There was a day when our religious leaders were made fun of, laughed at, and opposed—even put in jail and driven out of town for upholding Biblical righ- teousness. Nowadays, they are riding on the shoulders of mobs and the multitudes because they are trying to make Christianity as much like the world as possible in order to win the world.
