She started her career doing literary analysis, but then decided to teach, and she received her teaching certifications through Oak- land City University. At Wood Memorial, Mc- Divitt teaches ninth and twelfth grade English, along with yearbook. Regarding what she likes to teach, McDivitt said, "I like it all...but literature is my favorite." Right now in McDivitt's class, they are reading Ro- meo and Juliet, and her stu- dents did speeches on Eliz- abethan English. They also read The Outsiders this year. "I like to have them read books with characters their age," she added. Her favorite book is Jane Eyre, and she said, "I read it almost every year." McDivitt also said that the seniors are working on research papers on a top- ic of their choice, and the freshmen get to write a per- sonal narrative and perform a debate in class. Along with the classes she teaches, McDivitt al- so directs the play with the band teacher, Mr. White. Last year, Wood Memorial did Wizard of Oz, and they will do Clue this year at the end of April.
