Every year Petersburg Elementary School col- lects Box Tops 4 Educa- tion to raise money for the school to for supplies and programs throughout the year. The school has two sub- mission dates designated by the Box Top 4 Educa- tion committee. The co- ordinator, Melissa Fields, hosted a friendly competi- tion between classrooms to see which class can get the most box tops turned in by a set due date, to get counted and mailed in on time before submission date. Which in this case the students due date was Oct. 17 to be submitted by Nov. 1, Box Tops 4 Educa- tion sets these dates and the schools coordinator is responsible for submitting them on time. Our goal this year is to collect $1,500 worth of box tops. Each box top is worth 0.10 cents, mean- ing our goal is to collect 15,000 box tops total. So far this year their were 5,356 box tops turned in, plus 113 box tops earned for our school on the box top bonus app to total this collection at 5,469 box tops. The school has earned $546.90 so far this year. Petersburg Elemen- tary has met a little more than one third of their goal. Congratulations to the top classes, including: • First place – Anni- ta Henson's fourth grade class for collecting 779 box tops. • Second place – Tan- ya Goff's second grade class for collecting 694 box tops. • Third place – Jill Es- tey's first grade class for collecting 473 box tops. Each class will receive a small reward for submit- ting box tops. Conner Fields, who collected 523 box tops, is the student who collect- ed the most box tops. He received five free 50 cent Friday snack vouchers. Alyssa McCutchan was selected in a drawing of those who submitted box tops to receive five free 50 cent Friday snack vouch- ers Congratulations to all top classrooms and each individual students. The next collection due date will be mid-to-late- February and will be sub- mitted March 1, 2019. If you know a student or a teacher at Peters- burg Elementary School and would like to collect Box Tops for them and their class by the next col- lection date, submit your box tops to the school in a plastic bag or envelope addressed to: PES P TO, 1415 East Alford Road, Petersburg, IN 47567. Put the box tops inside of the envelope and be sure to in- clude your student's first and last name, grade and teacher's name. You can also get the box tops to that individu- al student or to a teacher for submission. ALL ARE WELCOME. Parking in the rear. MARCIA L. GRUBB Marcia L. Grubb, 79, of Washington, passed away November 13, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vin- cennes. She was born on October 13, 1939, in Pike County, the daughter of Chester and Lo- rianne (Shepard) Hamm. She was the owner of Grubb Satellite Systems from 1984 – 2000, then in 2002, she started GDAC, a consulting firm to various motorsports groups such as Burris Racing Corp, from Huntington Beach, Calif., and Digatron LLC, from Spokane, Wash. She and her company were recognized at many motorsport events at places such as VIR in Vir- ginia, PIR in Pennsylvania, Charlotte Motor Speedway, North Carolina, Jackson- ville, Fla., and Dismores Mo- torsport Complex in Indiana, just to name a few. She also managed Fast Track Race- way with her husband for Burris Racing Corp. (a facil- ity that hosted many karting events and also did tire test- ing for Burris Racing). Her own company, and those that she was a rep for, sponsored many WK A ( World Kart- ing Association) events and other major sports, such as snowmobiles, quarter midg- ets, tractor pulls and even the Lawn Mower Racing As- sociation. She really enjoyed see- ing the youngest boys and girls develop into great driv- ers, especially those that she sponsored and let drive her own karts, so that they could have top notch equipment at no cost to them. Even kids that were competitors al- ways liked to hang around her because she would give them hugs and compliments on their driving skills. Surviving are her hus- band, Cecil Grubb, whom she married July 21, 1962; a son, Nicky Grubb and his wife, Candace, of Otwell; a brother, Donald Hamm, of Cato; her grandchildren, Christin Wyant, Nikki Grubb, April Bruce and Ad- am Grubb; and her great- grandchildren, Landen Wy- ant, Bristal Grubb, Sophie Bruce, and Spencer Bruce. Her parents; and a broth- er, Johnny D. Hamm, preced- ed her in death. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, No- vember 17, 2018, at Good- win-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washing- ton. Burial will follow in Sug- arland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funer- al home. In lieu of flowers, dona- tions may be made to the Pike County Relay for Life. Obituaries JAMES DAVID WARNSMAN James David Warnsman, 86, of Huntingburg, passed away Saturday, Novem- ber 10, 2018, at his home in Huntingburg. He was born June 28, 1932, in Gibson County, to George and Ruth (McCor- mack) Warnsman. He graduated from Oak- land City High School and also attended Oakland City University. He also graduat- ed from University of Evans- ville. He was a U.S. Navy vet- eran, serving during the Ko- rean Conflict. He retired as vice-president of Indiana Op- erations from Old Ben Coal Company. He had been with the company for 30 years. He was a member of the Jasper Gun Club and a former mem- ber of the Pike County Bird Club. He is survived by his children, Deborah (Ed) Rodimel, of Washington, Cathy Hayes, of Oakland City, and David (Heather) Warnsman, of Blooming- ton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sis- ters-in-law, Peggy Warns- man, of Oakland City, and Carol Guimond, of Pensaco- la, Fla.; brother-in-law, Rob- ert Hightower, of Oakland City; uncle, John Warnsman, of Huntingburg; and several nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mar- tha Catherine Warnsman, in 2013; and brother, Jack Warnsman.
