The Lady Vikings' lead- ing scorer, Hoehn, hit just four of 19 field goal attempts – including two three-point- ers – and was 1-for-2 from the free throw line while net- ting 11 points. "With the top girls pes- tering the ball and Kenne- dy Willis shutting down their scorer, it made North Posey struggle with of- fense," Knight said. "The girls know how important defense is now and they take great pride in playing our 'mad dog D.'" In addition, Knight noted, Pike Central out-rebounded the Lady Vikings 33-20, with Liberty Taylor grabbing seven rebounds and Keena Young getting four more. "Down low in the paint, the girls dominated," Knight said. "Liberty and Chloe shut down the paint. Any- thing that came in there, they shut down. Any missed shot, they pulled down the rebound. They are both workhorses and will give everything they've got ev- ery play." Kahle Young went 4-for-4 from the field and 1-for-2 from the charity stripe to finish with nine points. Tay- lor added six points. Keena Young and Arteage chipped in with two points and one point, respectively. In addition, Jaylynn Cape- hart came off the bench to grab a team-high four steals. For the game, Pike Cen- tral made 12 of 45 field goal attempts – a 26.7 percent average – and were 5 -of- 8 from the free throw line while turning the ball over 23 times, including eight times in the first quarter. "The girls handled the ball extremely good to- night," Knight said. "We had a few mistakes but that was expected because of our fast-paced play. The girls pushed the ball quick- ly up the floor and didn't let North Posey get set up on defense. This is something we have been working on lately in practice. The girls like playing at a fast pace. So we switched a few things up and made it possible for them to do so." "Overall, this group of girls is having fun playing ball and learning each and every day," said Knight. "They are really fun to watch and coach. There is talent all over this team. They have talent inside and out, and all of them play great defense." Hoehn and Renee Schick- el both grabbed seven re- bounds for North Posey. Hoehn also had a game-high seven steals while dishing out a pair of assists. Pike Central, which played at Washington on Tuesday, Nov. 13, will travel to South Spencer on Thurs- day, Nov. 15, before return- ing home to host Washing- ton Catholic on Monday, Nov. 19, and Haubstadt on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
