Measured annually, the performance measures allow community colleges to track the success of their students by analyzing data in several areas. These areas include basic skills, credit English and math success, fi rst year progression, curricu- lum completion, licensure passing rates, and transfer performance. Through monitoring and analyses of these measures, the College is able to identify areas for improvement, devel- op action plans to address those, and imple- ment changes to help students succeed. This year's report validates the work the College is doing, as illustrated by the follow- ing data for the measures where the State's excellence levels were exceeded: Basic Skills Progress identifi es the percent- age of basic skills students (i.e. adult high school) who achieve an educational func- tioning level during the academic year. The State's excellence level for this measure is 68.3 percent, and CCC students realized a 76.8 percent success rate. Credit Math Success iden- tifi es the percentage of fi rst- time, associate degree-seek- ing and transfer pathway students who pass a credit- bearing math course with a "C" or higher in their fi rst two academic years. The State's excellence level for this measure is 32.5 percent and CCC students realized a 43.1 percent success rate. First Year Progression identifi es the percent- age of fi rst-time fall curriculum students who attempt and successfully complete at least 12 credit hours in their fi rst academic year. The State's excellence level for this measure is 75 percent and CCC students realized an 81 per- cent success rate. Transfer Performance identifi es the percent- age of students who exited the North Caro- lina Community College System after having completed an associate degree or at least 30 cumulative hours of articulated transfer cred- its and subsequently transferred to a four-year college or university, and earned a GPA of 2.25 or better after two consecutive semes- ters within the academic year at the four-year institution. The State's excellence level for this measure is 87.6 percent and CCC students realized an 88.9 percent success rate. Submitted by Paula B. Vess ANNOUNCEMENTS BEE AMAZED BY HONEY BEES!
