"We could not have accomplished all we have without the sponsors and donors from the medical community and the volunteers from those medical facilities," says local ALWS Committee Chairman Eddie Holbrook. "We are saluting the medical community during the 2018 games on Sunday, Aug. 19, to let these key people know how much we appreciate their contributions." Members of the medical community get in free after picking up a ticket at the Ticket Offi ce and will receive commemorative "Thank You" coins during a ceremony on Veterans Field. Sunday's events at Keeter Stadium begin with a nondenominational worship service at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Brackeen, Associate Youth Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church, delivering the worship message. Summer Brooke & The Mountain Faith Band will provide the music. Since the beginning of the effort to bring the ALWS to Shelby- Cleveland County, members of the medical community have been strong supporters. From dentists to orthopedists to physical therapists and Carolinas HealthCare System Cleveland (now Atrium Health), medical personnel have pledged as sponsors and donors and volunteers. Players' parents who have interacted with medical staff here have expressed their gratitude for the care their children have received. Fans who required medical attention during the games have complimented those who treated them. Games on Sunday are scheduled for 1:00, 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. with the Salute to the Medical Community between the fi rst and second games.
