The Birth of Christ An artist once drew a pic- ture of a wintry twilight, the trees heavily laden with snow, and a dreary dark house, lonely and desolate, in the midst of the storm. It was a sad picture indeed. Then, with a quick stroke of yellow crayon, he put a light in one window. The ef- fect was magical. The en- tire scene was transformed into a vision of comfort and good cheer. The birth of LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 718 E. Main Street, Petersburg Phone: 812-809-4544 Sunday services are at 10 a.m. and youth service at 6 p.m. I had neglected work- ing in my garden for sever- al weeks, but this morning I got out there and started pulling weeds. The weeds were so high and out of con- trol that I was literally hid- den from view while pulling them. If I had pulled those weeds when they first came up, they wouldn't have had such deep roots and been so difficult to pull. If neglected, we can have 'weeds' grow in our spiri- tual life too. Those weeds are planted by the enemy to choke out the good fruit that God has for us. And weeds, just like good plants, produce seeds of their own if left to grow. It's worth the daily effort to look for 'weeds' (unforgiveness, bit- terness, resentment....) in our own lives and pull them while they're still small, to avoid bigger problems later. Bobby's story: A fter giv- ing his life to Christ and four years of sobriety, the talk of Bobby starting a ministry came to the forefront. One day Bobby and his sister were chatting about what that ministry might look like, and both of them were marveling that it truly did start in a cardboard box. They looked at each other and knew immediately that a simple kraft box, tempo- ral, providing shelter and protection until the hour of one's redemption, was not of God, VBS event Sunday, from 1-6 p.m. for preschool through grade six. So many trials come in- to our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that pass- es all understanding—He is in control. Questions regarding church events, call 812-582- 8896. Mailing Address: P.O. Box 11, Petersburg, IN 47567. As a body of believ- ers, we pledge ourselves to al- low the Holy Spirit to develop within us maturity of spirit, unity of faith, and knowledge of the Son of God, so that we may be prepared to share His love, mercy and grace through our words and ac- tions, to a needy world. Samson started out his ministry for the Lord with great consecration and obe- dience. He gave into the temptations around him and sin took hold of him. Pastor pointed out three things about sin. 1) Sin will always take you farther than you want to go. 2) Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay. 3) Sin will cost you more than you want to pay. We can over come tempta- tion and sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. "Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (I John 4:4).
