Adam Scales (812) 354-8488 adam.scales@infarmbureau.com Dog complaint ends with owner busted for pot By James Capozella A call to Pike County Cen- tral Dispatch this past Mon- day evening concerning dogs terrorizing people on bicycles near Union resulted in the owner being arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Pike County Deputy Sher- iff Dallas Killian was on rou- tine patrol when he respond- ed to the dog complaint around 10 :20 p.m. Monday evening. Killian was advised by cen- tral dispatch that the dogs were from a white house located at 8526 W. SR 56. When the deputy arrived at the residence, he saw a male on the porch grab an article from a small table, place it in a left cargo pocket, and then quickly walk into the house, according to the report. Killian wrote in his report that as he approached the porch, the odor of marijuana became very strong. He ad- vised the male, who was later identified as Cody Cross, 27, that the officer was there on a dog complaint but smelled the odor of marijuana and asked where it was. A f- ter Cross stated he did not have any marijuana, Killian advised that the "odor was overwhelming" and that the officer had seen him hide something in his pocket. Cross then stated the item was inside and retrieved a small elephant-shaped smoking pipe that contained a burnt leafy substance, ac- cording to the report. Killian wrote he first handled the dog complaint and then ex- plained to Cross that it was illegal to possess marijuana. Cross said he knew that, but thought it was better then al- cohol. Cross was then transport- ed to the Pike County Secu- rity Center and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. 2501 Newton St (HWY 231 N) Jasper, IN 47546 www.obcycle.com 866-yamaha-6 Obermeyer H O N D A - YA M A H A - S U Z U K I 2501 Newton St (HWY 231 N) Jasper, IN 47546 www.obcycle.com 866-yamaha-6 Great SelectiOn!
