DistinXion to offer two-day camp at Pike Central High DistinXion, a non-prof- it organization founded by Washington's Zeller family, will be conducting a three-day DistinXion Camp Xperience at Pike Central High School on Monday, July 31, and Tues- day, August 1, for boys and girls who will be entering grades two through eight in the 2017-18 school year. The registration fee for the camp, which focus- es on elite basketball and character training, is $ 89. DistinXion is a non-prof- it organization founded by the Zeller family as a way to provide elite basketball and cheerleading training, while also building fami- ly relationships through character training. DistinXion's staff and volunteers are dedicat- ed to serving communi- ties around the country with one mission in mind: to make a positive impact on the athletic culture by building up families and developing positive char- acter in young athletes. For anyone interested in training with others in preparation for the Heart- land Half Marathon, the Southern Indiana Wolf- pack, based in Jasper, spon- sors a free training pro- gram every Sunday morn- ing beginning at 7 a.m. in front of the Jasper Fire Sta- tion, located at 309 East Sixth Street. Each workout begins with basic stretch- ing, plus a few short core drills prior to beginning the run/walk route. There are no pace requirements for this training group, as par- ticipants are free to run/ walk at their own pace. The Heartland Half Mar- athon, 5K and Team Chal- lenge is being coordinat- ed by DC Multisport, a non-profit organization ded- icated to promoting health and wellness while giving back to local communities. Lodging information and race-day event volunteers are being coordinated by the Dubois County Visitors Center staff. The event cor- porate sponsor is Memori- al Hospital and Health Care Center. The majority of the pro- ceeds from this year's race will be given to the Phillip R. Dawkins Heart & Vas- cular Center at Memorial Hospital to be utilized for new integrative medicine services provided to car- diac patients. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to- wards the DC Multisport Endowment to ensure fu- ture stability of the organi- zation and to continue in its efforts to give towards wor- thy causes. IHSAA Continued from page 1 Free hunter education class to be offered A free hunter education class will be offered Mon- day, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, at the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife headquar- ters. Hunter education classes provide instruction in safe firearm use and handling while hunting as well as in the home, hunter ethics and responsibility, game identi- fication and conservation management. Class time will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each evening. Attendance at all sessions is necessary to be eligible to test on the last day. This course is required for anyone born after Dec. 31, 1986, who wishes to pur- chase a hunting license. The class is sponsored by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources-Law En- forcement Division. The in- structor is Keith Thomas.
