Local businesses honored at awards banquet Pike County's Chamber of Commerce and Growth Council jointly honored ar- ea businesses with a Busi- ness Appreciation Awards banquet last Thursday at the IPL Event Center. The banquet honored nu- merous businesses in six categories: • Why Didn't I think of That. . . Award • Golden Tractor Award • Most Totally Awesome Place to Work Award • Thinking Outside the X-Box Award • February 29th Award and • Pike County Footprint Award They announced the nominees in each category, introducing them and then announced the winner of the award. The Why Didn't I Think of That Award honored the best marketing strategy to attract customers from in- side the county and outside the county. Marge's Hall- mark won the award and the nominees were Cakes & Coffee Cafe, Golden Liv- ing Center, Sisson Steel, Inc. and No. 432 Smoke- house BBQ. The Golden Tractor Award went to the agribusi- ness that serves as ambas- sadors by educating com- munity members and have a presence in the region for the work they do related to agriculture. Pike County Farm Bu- reau Inc. won the award. The nominees were Log Ends Farm, Bed and Break- fast, RipCo Limited and Weisman Farms. The Most Total- ly Awesome Place to Work Award is for the business that has friendly customer service, happy employees and takes the time to know what the needs are of the specific customer. Lakewood Home won the award and the nominees were Casey's General Store, CVS Phar- macy, Deaconess Clinic, Lakewood Home, Onyett Fab- ricators and Parsi- fal Corporation. Thinking Out- side the X-Box Award is for the young people who are engaged in business plans or helping existing businesses by using their talent to build better busi- ness models and ideas. Pike Central's Project Lead the Way's Biomedical Pro- gram won the award.
