Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen. On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Ja- mie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and ex- citement. 'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me ... 'I've been chosen to clap and cheer'—Author un- known. If only we could all be like Jamie. Life isn't al- ways going to go the way we want it go, but trust in God, that God has a plan. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understand- ing; in all your ways sub- mit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5 -6 NIV ).
