The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, May 23, 2018 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 the Gospel music associa- tion. We had several songs by several different people. We are really trying to re- vive something that used to be great and that is people singing praises to God just because they had a song on their heart to share with others. We have scheduled our next afternoon singing for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15 with the host church to announced at a later date. If you are reading this please help us make us make this a success. I do have a concern to share with everyone and that is our abundant sup- ply of mosquitos and buf- falo gnats. Some cities and towns spray for them and it helps. Most all of the pest control companies offer some protection services and they are expensive and most don't work that well either. With the diseases that these pests can car- ry I pray that someone will find something that will control these biters. In the mean time do all that you can to protect yourselves and your families from be- ing eaten alive. Well enough rambling for now so go out and be a blessing and reap all the blessings you can handle. Lutheran ST. JOHN'S LUTHER AN CHURCH 6483 W. 580 N. Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m.; Sunday school classes at 10 :45 a.m.; Every other Tuesday night, prayer at 7 p.m. If you were taken before jury in court would there be enough evidence to prove you are really a Christian. Do you respond to com- ments with anger and re- venge or do you pray about it. Do you live the Word out in the world and they know that something is different and that you are a Christian? Some thoughts to think about. Pray for your country, our president and government, your local government, our soldiers and all pastors. Re- member to pray for the sick and afflicted, and those in the nursing homes and hos- pitals. Also, pray about the elections. Be a friend to your neigh- bors, co-workers, any with whom you come into con- tact. To have a friend, you need to be a friend. Jesus said what you give out is what you will receive back. May you find peace and joy in your life this week. Restart your heart Pain and loss are inescap- able on this earth; fortunate- ly, the Great Physician spe- cializes in fixing hearts. Our participation is vital to recov- ery, though, as Danny Gokey sings in "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again." The song was inspired by a pastor asking to watch a cardiac surgeon- one of his congregates in action. When the doctor attempted to re- start the patient's heart af- ter repairing it, the organ wouldn't cooperate. The sur- geon knelt to speak to his pa- tient: "We have fixed your heart. We have repaired it. There is nothing wrong with your heart. If you can hear me, I need you to tell your heart to beat again. "You can get back up again," says Gokey, who faced loss when his first wife died. "You can move forward with your life, and you don't have to walk with a limp." God has fixed our hearts, Gokey says, but we need to recognize that and begin to hope again. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
