The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, April 18, 2018 C- 3 Continued from page 2 BRAD JENKINS for Sheriff Paid for by Myrna Jenkins Independent Presbyterian Nazarene Nazarene Wesleyan Methodist GLEZEN REVIVAL CENTER 245 S. Glezen Center St. 812-354-6738 or 812-582-9667 Sunday morning worship and children's church 10 :15 a.m.; Youth Group Hearts on Fire will meet on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Life Center. Bible study meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, refreshments will be pro- vided. Invite others to Bible study. Refresh and renew group will meet Tuesday, May 1 at 6 p.m. Pray for our military and their protection. Also, re- member to pray for the USA, peace and for one another. Fear, Hope and Trust "The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." (Psalm 147:11 NIV ). This scriptures begin- ning can sometimes be con- fusing and make some peo- ple waver on their journey of Christianity. The scripture does say "fear him," that is correct. Does this mean that God is an unruly and cruel maker that we should fear? No. This means that we have nothing to fear but God, as his children. For he watch- es over us, protects us and will provide for us if we only trust and follow him. Understandably, people read the first part and say, "Wo, why would I want to fol- low someone I should fear." First things first, the bible says that God is the Prince of Peace and not the bring- er of fear. It also says, "Trust in the Lord with all your hear and lean not on your own un- derstanding; Proverbs 3:5." So to me this verse actual- ly says, The Lord delights in those who trust him, and who put their hope in his un- failing love. As we go through this life we need to remember to trust God even in the hard times, because he is always there with us helping us on our path. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all ser- vices. Come and worship Je- sus with us. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center. Web- site: grcenter.net – E-mail address: glezenrevivalcen- ter@yahoo.com. "Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense" (Prov- erbs 10 :13). There is a saying, "If you only have a hammer, then ev- erything looks like a nail." In reality, not every problem re- quires the same fix. Discern- ment helps us to determine the appropriate response to each particular situation. Beasts of burden only know one way, forward. They are stubborn and require a rod at the hand of the driver to redirect them. Those who stubbornly hold to one way of dealing with challenges, have no sense and are unfit to offer wisdom. The proverb reminds us that only those who are able to discern the best way forward among many paths are able to offer wise counsel. "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; peace-loving, con- siderate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, im- partial and sincere" ( James 3:17) Fred J. Pelican In the Middle Ages, the pelican came to represent Jesus' sacrifice of his blood for the world. According to legend, a mother pelican, in times of famine, would pluck open her chest and feed her young with her own blood. An alternate myth was that she fed her dying young with her blood to revive them, losing her own life in the process. The depiction of a pelican with a drop of blood on her chest is called "the pelican in her piety." Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
