She was born January 6, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, the second of six children to the late Thomas and Ada "Wink" Grinstead. Betty loved her hometown of New Haven, situated in the beautiful hills of West Virginia. She was a 1946 graduate of Wahama High School, and was one of the last remaining members of her class. In 1950, she mar- ried Clyde D. Rice, who pre- ceded her in death in 1991. Along with her mom and sis- ters, Betty was an excellent seamstress. She was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardi- nals and Tiger Woods, and she loved performer Wayne Newton. Betty is survived by a daughter, Jackie Robinson, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, JC (Ann) Rice, Jerseyville, Ill.; grandchildren, Sarah Robinson, Myrtle Beach, El- lie (Eric) Winder, and their daughter, Emma Jane, and Jack ( JT) Rice, all of Jer- seyville; a sister, Shelby (Ce- cil) Duncan, New Haven, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to her hus- band, she was preceded in death by a son, James W. "Jim" Rice, who passed away May 12, 2017; son in law, Robin R. Robinson; a sister, and three brothers. Graveside funeral ser- vices will be at Graham Cemetery, New Haven, on Thursday, March 29, at 11 am. DONNA MARIE CARTER Donna Marie Carter, 64, of Jasper, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick. She was born February 9, 1954, in Huntingburg, to Howard Lee and Margaret Jean (Lee) Carter. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and en- joyed crocheting, knitting and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Megan Carter, of French Lick; her father, Howard Carter, of Wash- ington; two siblings, Deb- bie Meyerholtz, of Stendal, and Danny Carter, of Peters- burg; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Patrick, Kim- berly and Christian Gen- try, all of French Lick; and great-granddaughter, Te- aghan Coffey. She was preceded in death by her mother; and one brother, David Carter. Graveside services for Donna Marie Carter will be held at 11 a.m., EDT. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen. Rumble, age 77, of Hazleton, passed away to heaven on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Deaconess Mid- town Hospital located in Evansville. Sharon lived most of her life in Union and was a 1958 graduate of Hazleton High School. She was employed at Skelton Electric for some time then Farmers State bank which became Citi- zen State Bank, which is now Fifth Third Bank. She started as a teller and at her retirement was the depart- ment Vice President. Sharon was known to be helpful to all of her customers. All of her family and friends loved her kind and giving heart and she will be greatly missed by her sisters and their spouses; Patty (Steve) Sherman, of Union, Sandy (Richard) Melton, of Francisco, Ellie ( Jerry) Green, of Francis- co; and sister in laws, Katie Jo Rumble, of Washington and Carol Rumble, of Harts- burg, MO. She is also sur- vived by 10 nieces and neph- ews; and 11 great nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Martha Senn Rumble; and two brothers, Larry "Bub" Carl Rumble and Ran- dy Bruce Rumble. WELP Tina M. Welp, 45, of Jas- per, formerly of Loogootee, passed away at 4:44 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Tina was born in Jasper on March 8, 1973, to Tom and Mildred (Hem- bree) Welp. Tina worked for 25 years in the healthcare field. She enjoyed camping, fishing, vacationing near the ocean, derby's, her dog, Maddie Jo, and being with family and friends. Surviving is one son, Wil- lis (Chelsea) Welp, of Jas- per; one daughter, Mary Welp, of Jasper; mother; Mil- dred Hill, of Jasper; two sis- ters, Susan ( James)Schmitt, of Jasper and Becky (Ed) Schmidt, of Portersville; three brothers, Bryan (Cathi) Hurd, of Bicknell, Bobby Hurd, of Shoals and Fred (Ruthie) Welp, of Pe- tersburg; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her father, Tom Welp. Funeral services for Tina M. Welp were at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with burial that will follow at a later date at the Loogoo- tee Goodwill Cemetery. Rev. Dillon, of Wash- ington, passed away on March 19, 2018, at IU Hos- pice House in Blooming- ton, with his daughters at his side. Roger was born at home on June 19, 1938, to Tony Dillon and Marjorie (DeMotte) (Breidenbaugh) Dillon in Pike County. On October 19, 1968, he married Judith "Judy" G. Cutshall at First Chris- tian Church in Washington. Roger was a graduate of Ot- well High School and a for- mer Army Reservist. Roger loved farming, classic coun- try and bluegrass music, and basketball. He farmed from the time he was a teen until his late 30s. He also worked as a diesel mechanic in Pike County, a machinist at Gra- ham Hydraulics of Washing- ton and as a truck driver. In 2010, Roger retired from Da- viess Trucking in Washing- ton. Active in state and lo- cal Pike County politics as a young man, Roger was a lifelong Democrat. He and his wife were also among the founding members of New Hope Christian Church in Washington. Roger leaves his daugh- ters, Penny Dillon, of Bloom- ington, and Lorie (Mahesh Alur) Dillon, of Chicago; his grandson, Toby Dillon Al- ur; honorary daughter, An- janette Radford, of Bloom- ington; sister, Vivian (Dil- lon) Reed, of Otwell; broth- ers, Horace ( Joyce) Dillon, of Otwell; Lowell Dillon, of Huntingburg and Norman (Phyllis) Dillon, of Peters- burg; cousins, Peggy (Bar- nett) Beadles, of Cato and Jane Rae Dillon, of Bloom- ington and numerous nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Judy on September 14, 2001. His parents; brothers, Sylves- ter Alexander "Sonny" Dil- lon, Ralph Dillon and James "Jim" Dillon; sisters, Clara- belle (Dillon) Sheldon, Nina- lea (Dillon) Lottes, and Vir- ginia (Breidenbaugh) Tray- lor; three nephews and one niece also precede him. This American Heart Association course covers CPR for all ages, two-man CPR, bag-valve mask ventilation, relief of responsive and unresponsive FBAO (choking), and use of the AED. Participants must successfully complete a written test and skills evaluation to receive a course comple- tion (credential) card. Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregiver Support Group, Jasper – Dementia is a brain dis- order that seriously affects a person's ability to carry out daily activities. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia among senior Citizens. It involves the parts of the brain that control thought, memory and language. Memorial's Caring Hands Senior Services sponsors an Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregiver Sup- port Group on the first Wednesday of each month. Pre-registration is not necessary. Memorial Hospital Offers Class For Expect- ant and New Parents: "Baby Behavior," Jasper – Would you like to better understand your baby's wants and needs? Expectant parents in the last trimester are invited to attend Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center's "Baby Behavior" class on Wednesday, April 4 from 6 -7 p.m. Using current research on baby behavior, our class instructors will help you better understand your baby. The class will teach parents about things such as infant sleep, feeding cues, engagement and disengagement cues, and crying. The class will help parents become not only more relaxed but more con- fident in their new role as parents. It is highly recommended parents take this class be- fore the baby arrives. However, if parents are unable to, this class can be helpful for parents within the first 1-2 months of the baby being born as well. This class will be in Board Conference Room B/C, located on the lower level of the LCM Tower, at Memo- rial Hospital, 800 West 9th Street in Jasper.
