B-2 Sports Wednesday, March 28, 2018 The Press-Dispatch to bring yourself down to them – we've got to stay up and play our game and make them come to us." Senior first baseman Demi Croak had two hits, including a three-run base-loaded double in the second inning, while ju- nior second baseman Em- ily Carnahan went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Senior leftfielder Jordan Montgomery, who scored two runs and drove in one, was 1-for-2 with two walks. Senior shortstop Audra Stone scored twice while stealing three bases. Soph- omore right fielder Lauren Vaughn went 1-for-3 with one walk and scored twice. Senior pitcher Peyton Sorgius – who went 1-for-2 with a triple and walked once – hurled four score- less innings to get the win, allowing two hits and walking one while striking out three. Sorgius retired the first 11 batters she faced until giving up back-to-back sin- gled to Barr-Reeve fresh- man shortstop Hannah Graber and freshman first baseman Chloe Graber with two outs in the fourth inning. However, after walking Lady Vikings freshman pitcher Corrine Corbin to load the bases, Sorgius knocked down a ground- er up the middle by soph- omore second baseman Jenna Lueken and threw her out at first base to re- tire the side. "She made a heck of a play on that one," Weis- man said. "She knocked it down and got up, kept her composure, threw it to first and got the inning over with." "When she keeps the ball down, she's real com- petitive," Weisman added. "And she's realizing that, if you miss your spot, you're going to pay for it. They're going to hit the ball." Junior Alizé Padgett pitched the final inning, al- lowing one hit while strik- ing out two. Sophomore pitcher Kay- lynn Wagler took the loss for Barr-Reeve, allowing eight runs – five of which were earned – on nine hits while walking five in three innings. Corbin, who came on in relief after Barnes dou- bled to lead off the fourth inning and Vaughn drew a walk, allowed eight runs – one of which was earned – on six hits while walking two in one inning.
