Towards the end of the night on November 6, the elector- al votes were counted accordingly and President Obama reclaimed his stature as the 44 president. Barack Obama won the popu- lar vote by 50.6 percent accord- ing to the Huffington Post. Rom- ney fell short with a total of 47.9 percent. Romney had a total of 206 electoral votes, but Obama led by 332 votes. The election re- sults included that the Republi- can Party will hold Control of the House with 233 members while the Deomcratic Party has a total of 195 members. Control of the Senate went to the Democratic Party with 53 members and thus leaving the Republi- can Party with 47 members. Barack Obama has inno- vated some plans for the country in his four year plan. These plans according to barackobama.com. One goal that came from Obama's election night speech is to ad- vance in education reform so by 2020 the United States will lead the world in college graduates. Obama's 'economy built to last' is aimed to 'grow the economy from the middle class out'. The question at hand , though, is will Obama follow through with all of these plans? include: cre- ating jobs on the homefront, tax re- form that will 'generate revenue' to help with the debt deficit, ending wars and rebuilding America, Red Bluff High's Mock Election 482 311 50% voted for Barack Obama 32% voted for Mitt Romney Red Bluff High took part in a student mock election before the official election. The "election" had students participate in a voting environment with actual ballots in a closed surrounding. Students voted accordingly with the nation by giving Barack Obama a total of 482 votes out of the 955 that were counted. Romney received 311 of these votes. Obama's rankings at Red Bluff High was a 50.4 per- cent which is only .2 percent off of the national standings. Dianne Feinstein (senator) was the favorite in the mock elec- tion with a total of 457 votes. Her opponent Elizabeth Emken had a total of 415 votes leav- ing the results extremely close. The mock election was de- signed for students to have a H PROP 30: PROP 31: PROP 32: PROP 33: PROP 34: PROP 35: PROP 36: PROP 37: PROP 38: PROP 39: PROP 40: voting experience so they could experience how it felt to vote. Al- though their votes did not count, it emphasized that they will be participating in future elections. ow did you feel as a first time official voter? As a first time voter I was very indecisive at first, that's when I thought, 'What would Norton do?' And that was the deciding factor that led me to choose between our two beloved presidential can- didates. I've also met a few politicians on the ballet so I knew quite a bit about the people I was voting for.
