Stephanie Brunello Guest Writer Soccer prepares for their new league " There are a few advantages Last year, the girls' and boys' soccer seasons were played during the spring; however, this year, the school decided to switch seasons, and both teams' season is now during the winter. The girls' team is also in a different league. One of the reasons the school decided to switch leagues was because the team wasn't affilated with CIF, California Interscholastic Federation. Mr. Carreras, the new head coach of the girls' varsity soccer team, said, "We want to start competing at a higher level." as well as disadvantages to the soccer season being switched. One disadvantage is that their season is now during the girls' basketball season, and the team is losing some of their players to basketball; however, before, the season was during softball, and now the team is gaining a few players who didn't play before because they chose to play softball instead. Coach Carreras believes that even though the season is during the winter, when rain and cold weather are typical, that few, if any, games will be cancelled, and only postponed. It's going to be cold, wet, and miserable," -Coach Carreras Coach Carreras said that he is used to playing in the winter because when he played in high school, their season was during the winter. He also said that it may be more of a challenge for the players to adapt to the cold and rainy weather.
