The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, Februar y 28, 2018 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Nazarene Lutheran Wesleyan Methodist Methodist tired I did my best to live within or below my means so if a problem arose I wasn't devastated. In the world today it costs a lot more to live and there are times we have to use cred- it which can easily mount up to an uncontrollable lev- el. In my life my wife and I found lots of times where we had to tell ourselves that we could do without something until we could afford it. We didn't suffer from de- nying ourselves, but there were many times we saw friends have more, but less to do with. Again there is no concrete answer so we find another area of our lives that requires practice. Bottom line for this writ- ing is be prudent and make good financial decisions so you can support the Lord. Blessings come when you do and they are both physi- cal and Spiritual blessings. As always be blessed and be a blessing. I was "drug" to Church on Sunday night. I was "drug" to Church on Wednesday night. I was "drug" to Sun- day school every week. I was "drug" to Vacation Bi- sus with us. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center. Web- site: grcenter.net – E-mail address: glezenrevivalcen- ter@yahoo.com. Joe Henson, Pastor Matt Haycraft, Reporter Independent ble school. I was "drug" to the family altar to read the Bible and pray. I was "drug" to the woodshed when I dis- obeyed my parents. Those "drugs" are still in my veins, and they affect my behavior in everything I do and say, and think. They are stron- ger than cocaine, crack and heroin. If our children had this "drug" problem, Amer- ica would certainly be a bet- ter place. Everyone is welcome to each service. Tim Miller, Pastor Doris Catt, Reporter ST. Theme statement: In the raising of Lazarus from the dead we see Jesus' sincere sympathy for those who sor- row. John the apostle was convinced that Jesus had the final word over death. Jesus has the power to resurrect your family and to give you a new life and new future. There are three reasons the resurrection of Lazarus was necessary. 1. To show us what faith- fulness looked like. 2. To show us what victory over death looked like. 3. To show us what the glo- ry of God looked like. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor PETERSBURG CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE 118 West Pike Ave. Church 812-354-8851 Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship and children's church at 10 :30 a.m.; youth meeting and children's service at 6 p.m.; evening worship at 6 p.m. and Wednesday Bible study at 6 p.m. John 15:1-11 talks about remaining in the true vine, Jesus. John 15: 5 says,"I am the vine; you are the branch- es. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing." His joy will re- main in us. We can share that joy with others by giving thanks to God, telling others what He has done for us, and continuing to cling to God. Then God said, "let us make mankind in our own image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every liv- ing creature that moves on the ground." So God creat- ed mankind in his own im- age, in the image of God he created them, male and fe- male he created them. (Gen- esis 1:26 -28). We are created in the im- age of God, not a duplicate, but with His image within us. We enjoy many similar- ities to God that animals do not. His image gives us dis- tinctions and responsibil- ities that set us apart from the rest of creation. Read Genesis 2:18 -25 and join as Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for the rest of this discus- sion. Find out what those dis- tinctions and responsibilities are, and so much more. We look forward to seeing you there. Consider this week how you are made in God's image and how you can re- flect that image. The cross changed everything Everything has been dif- ferent since the Son of God climbed Calvary. Life has been different, death has been different, sin has been differ- ent, faith and hope and love have been different. Round the wide universe the arms of the cross have reached; its head has touched the heav- ens; its shaft has gone down deep as hell...Here was the Church's message from the very day of its birth: "Christ died for our sins." -James S. Pancakes Six-year-old Dan decid- ed one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor. He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor. He then knocked the bowl of mix and the egg carton on the floor. Frantically, he tried to clean up the mess, but slipped on the eggs, getting his paja- mas white and sticky. By this time, Dan was covered with flour and getting frus- trated. He wanted this to be something very good for his Mom and Dad, but it wasn't going very well. Just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Dan's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scold- ing was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him. Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process. That's how God deals with us. We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Some- times, we just stand there in tears because we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and tells us he is with us, always. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dis- mayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). We invite all of you to come and worship with us.
