Bacon seeking re-election House District 75 State Rep. Ron Bacon (R-Chandler) today filed to run for re-election to rep- resent House District 75. Bacon has held the seat represent- ing portions of Spencer, Pike and War- rick counties since 2010. He is current- ly the vice-chair of the House Commit- tee on Public Health and serves as a member on the House Committee of Commerce, Small Business, Econom- ic Development, the House Statutory Committee on the Interstate and In- ternational Cooperation and the Med- icaid Advisory Committee. "I am taking what I have learned working as a health professional for the past 50 years here in Southwest Indiana and putting it to use to help vet legislation that positively impacts all Hoosiers," Bacon said. "Provid- ing health care while maintaining our state's fiscal integrity are among my top priorities while serving the people of House District 75." Bacon said during his tenure, the legislature has made multiple tax-cut reforms, making Indiana rank number five in the nation and number one in the Midwest for the best place to con- duct business. Bacon said he has also advocated for tax reform and fiscal ve- racity, as well as increasing economic development and family values in the great state of Indiana. "We have locally seen the impact of these reforms as some of the indus- tries in our communities, like Alcoa and Toyota, have seen the need to put more Hoosiers to work," Bacon said. "I will continue to support policies that encourage job and economic growth in our great state." Before his election to serve House District 75, Bacon served his commu- nity as the Warrick County Coroner, and was heavily involved with local organizations such as the St. Mary's Warrick Hospital Foundation, War- rick County Chamber of Commerce, Boonville Kiwanis and Right to Life of Southwestern Indiana. County Highway Department, said they have been plowing since Friday morning as well. He said they have al- so had to deal with large snow drifts. Bryd said County Roads 1000 E., 325 N. and 225 E. all had large drifts on them. He said crews had to go out and break up drifts to allow people to get out of their houses. He said they also had tree limbs and trees down to deal with as well. Some people had to deal with pow- er outages on Friday morning. Billy Thomas, who lives in the White Oak area, said his power went off at about 5:30 a.m. and didn't come back on until 10 :20 a.m. "It was starting to get pretty cold," said Thomas of his house, that had dropped to near 50 degrees before the power came back on. It was also a rough time for motor- ists. Pike County Chief Deputy Sheriff Kent Johnson said so far the county has been lucky there have been no in- juries from icy road conditions. He said they had only two slide-offs reported on Friday. However, that grew to four slide-offs on Saturday and two acci- dents; one slide-off and one accident on Sunday; and then four slide-offs on Monday and one accident. He said people did a good job of slowing down and taking their time. He also credited the county highway department with doing a good job on the roads. WEATHER Continued from page 1 Service in demand Derek Deffendall with GE Tree Services runs a snow blower on the sidewalks along Seventh St. in Pe- tersburg on Saturday night.
