Lisa was a 13-year employ- ee of the Solar Sources Coal Company. She is survived by a son, Les Arburn (Bas DeVries,) of Mt Carmel, Ill.; moth- er, Dixie (Matteson) Bass, of Petersburg; sisters, Lin- da (Ron) Meier, of Mt Car- mel, Ill., Tracy (Sean) Mee- han, of Ft. Wayne, and Dix- ie (Dennis) Buesching, of Franklin, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul E. Bass in 1996; and brother, Larry Bass. Services were Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Lamb-Basham Me- morial Chapel, with Rev. Alec Hensley officiating. Burial followed in the Bar- rett Cemetery near Stendal. Shandy, 86, of Petersburg, died at 5:57 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Jas- per. She was born on Septem- ber 5, 1931, to Oral and Jew- el (Pittman) Fettic in Wash- ington. She was a former owner of Shandy Store and worked at Kimball Electronics. She was a member of the Otwell Wesleyan Church. She is survived by daugh- ters, Kathy (Ron) Gayheart, of Huntingburg, Karen Padgett, of Petersburg, Joni ( Jeff ) Clark, of Petersburg, and Terri Punturi, of Vin- cennes; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Shandy, in 2014; and daugh- ter, Kimberly Pierson. She was born in Somer- ville, to the late Christian and Madia Schmett on Oc- tober 3, 1934. She was a member of the Winslow Christian Church and Beta Sigma Fi sorority. She was a retired rural mail carrier out of the Hunting- burg Post Office. She grad- uated from Mackey High School Class of 1950. Betty is survived by her son, Kurt Auten, of Winslow; and daughter, Melody Auten, of Evansville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Earsey "JR" Auten in 2014; brother, Charles Schmett; and sisters, Ailene Benton and Deloris Siever. Services for Betty were at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with visitation from 10 a.m. un- til service time. Burgess, age 81, of Otwell, passed away at 11:23 a.m. on Sunday, Jan- uary 14, 2018, at Eastgate Manor Nursing and Reha- bilitation Center in Wash- ington, Ind. She was born in Knox County on May 13, 1936, to William and Una (Marlow) Russell. She worked as a hair- dresser in Henderson, Ky., for many years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, boating, and spending time outdoors. He was born on Septem- ber 24, 1942, in Petersburg. He served in the Navy from 1960 -1963. He was a carpen- ter and owner of his own business. He was loved by all he met. INA NANCY BURTON Ina Nancy Burton, 88, of Oakland City, entered rest on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She was born on August 23, 1929, in Princeton, to James Raleigh Crawford and Isabell ( Weisgerber) Baxter. Nancy was an RN for 32 years, 27 of which she served as director of Nurs- ing for Skilled Care Unit at Gibson General Hospi- tal. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oakland City and attend- ed Good Shepherd Unit- ed Methodist Church. She was also a lifetime member of Tri-Kappa and alumni of Deacon School of Nursing. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ross, of Oakland City; son, Brad Burton, of Stafford, Va.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was born Sept. 25, 1962, to Donald (Dutch) and Betty (Schroeder) Sten- ftenagel. He worked for Toy- ota and enjoyed spending time with his wife and fam- ily. LAWRENCE P. "BUD" HOUCHINS Lawrence P. "Bud" Houch- ins, 85, of Oakland City, en- tered rest on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at The Waters of Princeton. He was born on August 13, 1932, in Princeton, to Paul and Myrtle (Golden) Houchins. He served in the United States Army during the Ko- rean War. He was employed for 29 years at Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville. He also attended Full Gos- pel Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Thompson) Houch- ins; sons, Alford ( Judy), of Ocala, Fla., Glenn (Steph- anie) Houchins, of Shoals, and John Houchins, of Oak- land City; daughters, Cyn- thia (David) Hayden, Alice (Fernando) Guzman-Diaz and Charlene (Kent) Heldt, all of Princeton, and Mar- lene Biel, of Oakland City; sister, Barbara Houchin, of Oakland City; 24 grandchil- dren, 73 great-grandchil- dren; and one great-great- grandchild. "Bob" Willis, 84, of Greenfield, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was born on October 29, 1933, in Petersburg, the son of Robert S. and Olive M. (Frederick) Willis. He graduated from Pe- tersburg High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He worked as an ironworker for 40 years and was a 2nd gen- eration pilot. He had a pas- sion for airplanes, and en- joyed rebuilding and flying antique aircrafts. He is survived by his chil- dren, Robert M. Willis, Lo- ri J. ( Willis) Hoppes, Wil- liam P. Willis and David B. Willis; siblings, Marlene Naylor, Beth Willis, Dewitt Willis, James Willis, Clare Popp and Alva Willis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Olive Willis; and three sis- ters, Wanna Day, Nila Woods and ImoLou Schwoob. GAROLD GENE SHEETZ Garold Gene ( Jerry) Sheetz, 87, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peaceful- ly on January 14, 2018, and is now reunited with his loving wife, Patricia, of 63 years. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfa- ther. He was a Korean War Veteran and retired from NCR. His wit, intelligence and generosity gave him a personality that blessed family, friends and those with whom he came in con- tact.
