Hill leads Chargers to second- place finish in swim meet at Jasper By Ed Cahill Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net Senior Lukas Hill posted season-best times while win- ning two individual events as the Pike Central High School boys' swim team placed second in a three- team meet hosted by Jasper on Thursday, Jan. 11. Lukas Hill placed first in the 200 -yard individual med- ley with a season-best time of 2:05.14. He was also first in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:04.86. Lukas Hill also teamed up with seniors Jacob Bohnert and Ty Cassitty and sopho- more Jersey Mills to place second in the 200 -yard med- ley relay with a season-best time of 1:48.90, and second in the 400 -yard freestyle re- lay with a season-best time of 3:32.85. Placing second in individ- ual events for the Chargers were Bohnert in the 50 -yard freestyle with a personal re- cord time of 23.01 seconds, besting his previous PR time of 25.76 seconds, and in the 100 -yard butterfly with a time of 58.33 seconds; Cas- sitty in diving with a six- dive score of 175.75 points; sophomore Brayden Cooper in the 100 -yard backstroke with a personal record time of 1:09.40, besting his previ- ous PR time of 1:10.26; and senior Jackson Keepes in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:07.75. Hill, Theising and junior Colton Carpenter placed fifth in the 400 -yard freestyle relay with a sea- son-best time of 4:37.77; and the team of Boyd, Carpenter, Henson and Theising placed sixth in the 200 -yard free- style relay with a time of 1:59.87. Also competing but not placing: • Boyd in the 100 -yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:15.93. • Carpenter in the 50 -yard freestyle with a personal re- cord time of 28.46 seconds, besting his previous PR time of 31.40 seconds. • Theising in the 200 -yard freestyle with a time of 2:31.72. As a team, Pike Central scored a total of 106 points. Heritage Hills placed first with 116 points while Jas- per finished third with 105 points. Pike Central, which had a dual meet at Tecumseh on Saturday, Jan. 13, can- celed because of inclem- ent weather, is scheduled to compete in the Pocket Ath- letic Conference Champion- ship swimming preliminar- ies on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Tecumseh, with the swim- ming and diving finals set for Saturday, Jan. 20.
