James Capozella photo United Way of Pike County distributes $43,975 By James Capozella For sixteen years, United Way of Pike County executive director Denise Kin- ney has conducted the annual awards funding to not-for-profit agencies that serve the Pike County community. This year, a total of $43,975 was provided to 13 agencies on Tuesday, December 18, according to Kinney. Kinney said, "United Way of Pike County is pleased to serve our commu- nity. Together, united we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better to- morrow." The 13 Pike County agencies receiv- ing funds were: Junior Achievement, Pike County Christian Assistance, Senior & Family Services, Bread of Life Ministry, Generations, The Salvation Army, Buffa- lo Trace Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts of South- west Indiana, Pike County 4-H Livestock, Safe Haven House of Hope, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Attic, Inc. and Charger Soccer Club. "It has been a privilege serving the people of Pike County and I want to con- tinue the positive chang- es that my staff and I have brought to the office in fair and accurate assess- ments," Goodpaster said. "With my experience serv- ing as your assessor and as a real estate appraiser, my dedication to provide Pike County with the highest quality of service will con- tinue." Goodpaster has been an Indiana Certified Apprais- er for 15 years and is certi- fied as an Indiana Level 3 Assessor/Appraiser. Dur- ing his first term, Goodpas- ter was elected Assessor of the Year for the South- west District of the Indi- ana County Assessor's As- sociation (ICA A) and twice elected the ICA A SW Dis- trict President. Lida Robinson an- nounced she is seeking election as Pike County Recorder. Robinson, who is employed at the Jay C Food store, said she will be running for the office of recorder. "I've lived in Pike County most of my life and my love of work- ing with the people of Pike County drove me to make this decision. I would appreciate your support as I prepare for the road ahead," said Robinson.
