She is a very person- able feline, loves human attention, approximately six months old, has plush, golden fur with white ac- cents, spayed, has all her shots and can be adopted for $ 30, by calling 812-354- 9894. "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, who call upon Him in truth" (Psalm 145:18). Have you ever thought about what has happened because Christ has come in- to the world? That Babe in the manger of Bethlehem grew up to become our cru- cified and risen Savor and the world has never been the same. His compassion has made the world more compassionate. His healing touch has made the world more humanitarian. His selflessness has made the world more self-effacing. Christ drew a rainbow of hope around the shoulders of men and women and gave them something to live for. If Christ had not come, this world would indeed be a hopeless world. There would be no access to God, there would be no atonement for sin, there would be no for- giveness, and there would be no Savior. Yes, Christ came into the world and made it a better place. He will do the same for you, if you will open your life to Him. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feeling blessed. May God bless each and every one. Remember Jesus is the reason for the season. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter NEW LIBERTY G.B. CHURCH (Coe) 1820 S. Co Rd. 800 S. The eyes of a child bouncing waiting to open that first gift. Two bib- lical names you may never have heard of were antici- pating Christ's birth; Sime- on and Anna. So what are you looking for this Christ- mas? In Luke 2:22-38, we find Simeon looking for the Christ waiting for the con- secration of Israel. He was promised he would see the Christ before dying. He found what he was looking for. He was looking for com- fort. Then we find Anna, who had waited and prayed at the temple day and night and at the age of 84 found what she was looking for. She was looking for forgive- ness. So what are you look- ing for this Christmas? Look for Jesus Christ. Program practice this Wednesday and Friday nights at 6 p.m. December 21 will be the first day of winter. Christmas Break for Pike County Schools will begin on Friday, Dec. 22 and will resume January 3. Sunday, Dec. 24, will be our Christmas program, during morning worship. Gary and Ruby Pancake will be in charge of the program. Let them know if you'd like to help. Spend your Christ- mas Eve with Jesus. It will al- so be Assistant Teacher and Building Fund Sunday. December 25 is Christ- mas Day. Give thanks to God for His wonderful gift. December 31 will be New Year's Eve. Prepare for 2018. There will be no Fifth Sunday fellowship. Be much in prayer for those who are hurting this Christmas. Many need a word of encouragement, a small gift of hope, and a word of compassion. Even a smile and a simple "Merry Christmas" can bring that smile back to you. Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. Gary Pancake, Pastor Ivan Mason, Reporter BETHEL G.B. Immanuel for Christmas "Therefore the Lord him- self will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14, K JV ). During this time of year, we not only celebrate Christ- mas and the spirit of giv- ing, but we also celebrate the birth of our Lord Je- sus Christ (Immanuel). The word Immanuel means God with us. How wonder- ful is that? God gave us the greatest gift ever for Christ- mas, his son Jesus to save us from harm and deliver us from evil. So remember that for Christmas God gave you the gift of always being with you (or Immanuel) and nev- er against you. Have a Merry Christmas. We welcome you to all services. The account of the Wise Men at the manger look- ing at baby Jesus we have all seen portrayed for many years. But is that really how it is portrayed in the Bible? Look at Matthew and Luke side by side. In Luke chapter two angels appear to shepherds proclaiming the good news of the Christ be- ing born, and the shepherds see the babe in a manger. Matthew II, the wise men came into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother. We can accept the story the way we have been caught (by T.V ) or we can look to the Bible and teach it as it really happened. Merry Christmas, Jesus is the reason for this season.
