Poplar Street, Petersburg Seniors Jacob Bohnert and Lukas Hill won two in- dividual events each as the Pike Central High School boys' swimming team dropped a 97-88 loss to vis- iting Evansville North on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Bohnert placed first in the 200 -yard individual medley with a personal record time of 2:11.73, besting his previ- ous PR time of 2:14.60, and first in the 100 -yard back- stroke with a time of 58.28 seconds. Lukas Hill placed first in the 50 -yard freestyle with a personal record time of 23.61 seconds, besting his previous PR time of 24.90 seconds, and first in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:06.88. Also placing first in an in- dividual event for the Char- gers was sophomore Jersey Mills in the 100 -yard free- style with a season-best time of 53.14 seconds. In addition, Bohnert, Lu- kas Hill and Mills teamed up with senior Ty Cassitty to place first in the 200 -yard Junior Natalie Bohnert broke her own record in the 100 -yard butterfly for the second time this sea- son as the Pike Central High School girls' swim- ming team defeated visit- ing Evansville North 100 - 83 on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Bohnert placed first in the 100 -yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.92, besting the previous school-record time of 1:03.18 she set on Nov. 29 in a home meet against Evansville Bosse and Evansville Central. Bohnert entered the season as the school-record hold- er in the 100 -yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.01. Bohnert also placed first in the 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.23. Senior Brittany Young placed first in the 50 -yard freestyle with a time of 29.13 seconds, and second in the 500 -yard freestyle with a personal record time of 6:31.29, besting her pre- vious PR time of 7:00.90. Senior Quin Bailey placed first in the 100 -yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.64, and second in the 200 -yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:22.95. In addition, Bailey, Bohnert and Young teamed up with senior Cass Conder to place first in the 200 -yard medley relay with a time of 2:10.67 and in the 400 -yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:20.52. Also placing first in an in- dividual event for the Lady Chargers was junior Hal- lee Stephens in diving with a season-best six-dive score of 197.15 points. Also placing second in in- dividual events for the La- dy Chargers were Cond- er in the 200 -yard indi- vidual medley with a time of 2:52.85; sophomore Lily Frederick-Rice in the 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 1:18.36; and fresh- man Audrey Keepes in the 50 -yard freestyle with a season-best time of 30.16 seconds. Placing third in individu- al events for the Lady Char- gers were Conder in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a time of 1:26.91; fresh- man Charlotte Dudenhoef- fer in the 200 -yard individ- ual medley with a time of 2:58.52; and freshman Jen- na Meyer in diving with a six-dive score of 171.55 points. Placing fourth in indi- vidual events for the La- dy Chargers were Fred- erick-Rice in the 200 -yard freestyle with a personal re- cord time of 2:36.36, best- ing her previous PR time of 2:59.84; senior Shania Cremeans in the 100 -yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:30.75 and in the 100 -yard backstroke with a time of 1:28.01; senior Courtney Frederick in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:32.62; and senior Gretch- en McCrary in the 200 -yard individual medley with a time of 3:02.26 and in the 500 -yard freestyle with a time of 7:18.07. Placing fifth in individu- al events for the Lady Char- gers were Frederick in the 200 -yard freestyle with a time of 2:43.78; Keepes in the 100 -yard butterfly with a time of 1:31.90, tying her season-best time; Meyer in the 100 -yard freestyle with a time of 1:13.79; and soph- omore Emma Russell in the 100 -yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:39.63. At 120 pounds, Chargers freshman Lane Miller won by pin over Owensboro's Aid- en Neal. At 126 pounds, Chargers junior Jaydon Gordon lost by pin to Owensboro's Noah Kirkman. At 132 pounds, Chargers senior Dylan Jones won by pin over Owensboro's Antho- ny Tregdem. At 138 pounds, Chargers junior Randy Powell won by pin over Owensboro's Dako- ta Duvall. Entering the game 12 points shy of the 1,000 -point milestone, Hendrixson reached it with 1:30 left in the third period when she hit a short jumper – off of an as- sist from sophomore Lauren Vaughn following a steal by senior Brook Nalley – to pull the Lady Chargers to with- in 35 -33. Senior Cameron Henson also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points as the Chargers improved to 2-2 with their second consecutive victory. "I think, man-to-man, it's pretty tough to guard us," Pike Central head coach Hunter Elliott said. "Guarding Booker and Cameron and Nalley is pretty tough for a lot of teams. Any team that plays us man, we try to take ad- vantage of that, and zone, we've worked on that a lot, and I think we execute pretty well against any zone as well." Nalley scored 19 points during the first two quarters as Pike Central opened up a 36 -16 halftime lead. A fter hitting a three-point shot at the start of the sec- ond half to extend the Chargers' lead to 39 -16, howev- er, Nalley picked up his third personal foul with 6:42 left in the third period and was relegated to the bench. A free throw by senior Tyler Tormohlen stretched Pike Central's lead to 40 -16 before three three-pointers by junior Logan Keller and one each by juniors Colten Mouzin and Macaine Claycomb sparked a 19 -5 scoring run that cut the deficit to 45 -35 with just under one min- ute remaining in the third quarter.
