The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, November 8, 2017 C- 3 MINUTES Continued from page 1 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued on page 5 Continued from page 2 istry since 1985 and have seen many ups and downs. My heart has been bro- ken by the death of sev- eral great saints of God. I have seen many marriag- es broken apart until you just don't feel like being a part of a marriage ceremo- ny again because you take it personal. I have learned that there are several types of minis- ters, but they all fall into one of two groups, preach- ers or pastors. If the con- gregation wants a fiery ser- mon then they want a great orator who can be fueled by a fiery congregation, but if they expect fire from the pulpit sometimes it has to be ignited by the listeners. Now a pastor can be a fiery minister but he normally has a heart of being there for you when you need him but his messages are good common sense which tells you stories about people in the Bible. How you can spare yourself the pain and heartache by staying away from their sins and trou- bles. As a pastor you just aren't all stomp and shout you are a caring person who wants the best for the congrega- tion. When he loses people from the congregation it hurts and discouragement can set in if he isn't ground- ed in the faith. Bottom line to all of this is I suppose you just can't satisfy all the peo- ple all the time. May God help us all. Sunday we found David and his men devastated by their losses and while the men became angry with David and desired to stone him David mended his rela- tionship with God and real- ized that he has been living his life without God. He ac- cepted God's grace and re- newed strength in faith and led his men to recovery of their families and personal belongings. When they returned home they didn't want to share the spoils of the bat- tle with others who had not been in the battle, but had accomplished another task set forth by David. David calmed their thoughts and said that each of us are im- portant no matter the task we perform. There can never be a "big me little you" in the King- dom of God. Accept bless- ing as it comes and be a blessing when you can. vessels of gold and of sil- ver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour" (II Timothy 2:20). Which are you? If your house is not in order, maybe it's time to do a little housecleaning. "Dear- ly beloved, let us cleanse our- selves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfect- ing holiness in the fear of God" (II Corinthians 7:1). God's starter house was pretty humble, but with a little spiritual elbow grease you can make your body a house that brings Him great glory. And together we can improve our local church- es to the point where "the church, which is His Body" will exceed Solomon's tem- ple, as far as the sun exceeds the moon, in bringing glory to God! While some de- pression is of a clinical na- ture and does not need med- ication, many people sink in- to depression because they feel lost and without pur- pose. They don't have Jesus in their lives. Jesus can give us the peace of mind we so desperately need. The peace of God guards our hearts and our minds. That is cool, indeed. "Father, I thank You for Your peace that stands guard over us. I praise You for giving us peace of mind. Your divine protection is like crawling into our mother's arms. Thank you"—Amen. God says in Jeremiah 29:11—"He knows the plans He has for our lives, peace and not evil and that we should have hope." He was referring to Israel people in bondage in Bab- ylon, but it can have a dou- ble meaning. They were in bondage and so many Chris- tians are in bondage, keep- ing them from their full po- tential for the work of the Kingdom. God desires for us to be free from bondage, to have peace, and fulfill our destiny and purpose. Get it under the blood, be free and complete your purpose.
