Jasper City Policeman Grant Goffinet said the black 1993 Honda Civic was stolen from Jasper between midnight and 2 a.m. on November 4 in the area of 17th and Leopold streets. It was found destroyed by fire Sunday morning by a hunter. Indiana State Fire Marshal Assistant Chief Matt Wells said from his examination of the burned re- mains indicate that it was "an intentionally set fire." He said it appears to have started in the area of the front passenger seat. Goffinet said there have been several cars stolen in the Jasper area in recent month. "They are mak- ing it pretty easy for the thieves," said Goffinet. He said all of the recent thefts have been of cars that the doors were left unlocked with the keys in the vehicles. Anyone with information should call the Jasper Police Department at 812-482-2255 or the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628.
