Submitted photos Jasper couple arrested on possession of heroin charges By Andy Heuring A Jasper couple was ar- rested late Saturday night after police were notified of a possible intoxicated driver. George W. Pierce II, 23, of 320 W. 13th St., Jasper, and Alyssa Marie Seitz, 25, of 1887 S. Raymond St., Jas- per, were arrested on charg- es of possession of heroin and maintaining a common nuisance, level 6 felonies. Petersburg Police Cpl. Jared Simmons said at about 11 p.m., he was noti- fied by central dispatch of a possible intoxicate driver headed west on Highway 56 from Jasper. Cpl. Simmons said he located a red car and turned around to follow it. He said he noticed the ve- hicle go left of center three times and stopped the ve- hicle at the intersection of Highways 57 and 61. When he approached the vehicle, he noticed the odor of mar- ijuana. Pierce told Cpl. Simmons he had been around people who were smoking marijua- na the day before. Officers also asked Pierce's passenger, Seitz, to step out of the vehicle. Cpl. Simmons said during a search of the vehicle, he found numerous plastic bags with the corners cut off. Pierce said he was using the corners to store mari- juana. During the search, Cpl. Simmons said police found pill containers and in them they found a brownish col- ored, rock-like substance, which field tested positive for heroin, weighing about 1.7 grams. Deputy Jason McKinney, who was assisting Simmons, found an ink pen tube with residue in it. Later, under questioning, Pierce admitted the heroin was his. According to Sim- mons' report, Pierce said he bought the heroin in Jas- per and was headed to Pe- tersburg to go to his friend Isaac's house. He denied he was coming to Petersburg to sell the heroin. Simmons' report also said Seitz told police she had been using heroin for about a year, off and on. Both said they didn't use needles but only "snorted" heroin. Both were taken into cus- tody and transported to the Pike County Jail on prelimi- nary heroin charges. MARRIAGE LICENSES Wesley M.
