The Press-Dispatch Church Wednesday, October 25, 2017 C- 3 RAMBLINGS Continued from page 1 Continued in next column Continued from page 2 Continued on page 4 loyal to them when fighting against Israel. Personally I don't think David would have fought against his home nation, but God saw to it that he wouldn't fight in this battle by allowing the rejection. The rejection seemed to upset David but the reason for his upset wasn't neces- sarily the rejection, but the fact that he had too much world in him to be comfort- able with God and too much God in him to be comfort- able with the ungodly. He was leading a double life and not setting his pri- orities correctly. A person leading a double standard life will not be strong in ei- ther one and scripture says that you can't love two mas- ters because of love hate re- lationships. David should have been told by someone "seek you first the kingdom of God and the rest will come lat- er". Not a direct quote but you see the meaning. So once you have God's grace don't mess around. Love God with all your heart and don't give in to the world. About enough side walk preaching for this week so be blessed and be a bless- ing. Mark Schlechty, Pastor RUMBLETOWN FREE METHODIST CHURCH 1485 N. St. Rd. 57 Petersburg Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship at 10 :30 a.m.; Sunday eve- ning Bible study at 6 p.m. The church is located south of Petersburg on State Road 57. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, creat- ed in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:8 -10). Knowing that salvation can't be earned, but it is a gift through my faith in Jesus, shows me how much God loves me. When I make a bad decision, I know that God's grace is sufficient. Knowing this humbles me because I know that even though I've blown it, God still loves me. And it makes me confident because I know that Jesus willingly died on the cross, and that His death is more than sufficient to pay for my sin. It's interesting that apostle Paul (who wrote the words above) follows his as- surance of God's grace with a reminder that we are cre- ated to do good works. God's grace is free, but He does re- quire something from us, a life of service and outreach. Can we meet the challenge? I think we can by God's grace. David Walton, Pastor Hope Barnett, Reporter SPURGEON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 11505 N. Hwy. 61 Spurgeon Pastor 812-922-5362 Church service 9 a.m. and Sunday school 10 :10 a.m. October 29, Halloween party at 5:30 p.m. "Though it is the small- est of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches" (Matthew 13:32). Show us how to plant seeds of faith in the lives of those around us so that your kingdom will continue to grow in all of us. God can grow small seeds of faith into a forest. Josh Sanders, Pastor Sherry Julian, Reporter WHITE RIVER CHAPEL UMC 3555 W. SR 56 in Bowman 812-582-8896 Sunday morning worship 9:30 a.m.; Sunday school 10 :45 a.m.; Thursday evening Bible study at 6:30 p.m. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righ- teousness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be add- ed? God's order back into our lives—a peace that passes all understanding—He is in con- trol. Questions regarding church events, call 812-582- 8896. Mailing Address: P.O.
