Students are ranked on a leader board by the number of correct answers they give. If there's a tie, we rank them on average answer speed. During the time period of Oct. 6-12 there were 1,135 qualified classes and 24,704 students participating. Pike Central Middle school 6 grade classes are proud of their ranking. National Placing, State of Indiana (out of 89): Mr. Mason - 101st, Mr. Mason - 12th, Mrs. West - 166th, Mrs. West - 18th, Mrs. Weisman - 347th, Mrs. Weisman - 29th, Ms. Harris - 361st, Ms. Harris - 31st, Mrs. Waddell - 444th, Mrs. Waddell - 43rd. The students from Mrs. LeMond's and Mrs. Henson's second grade classroom worked on a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Activity. They were given the task of being engi- neers. They had to design a structure that would withstand a hurricane using only the materials provided. Then they tested their structures with a fan and water to see how they did. Mrs. Henson prepares to pour water on one of the structures to see how it holds up. Students did a presenta- tion about their projects at the last school board meeting. MONDAY, OCT. 23-27 Fall Break, No School for students TUESDAY, OCT. 31 Halloween-please don't let your child wear costumes to school, dress code still ap- plies. Lion's Club will be here to do visions screenings.
