B-2 Sports Wednesday, October 18, 2017 The Press-Dispatch the regional meet as a soph- omore with a time of 18:10, and Chambers are the first Chargers to advance to semi-state since Cain Park- er accomplished the feat in 2012, when he placed sev- enth overall during the re- gional meet. Meanwhile, senior Caden Armstrong narrowly missed advancing to the semi-state meet for the second year in a row by placing 29th over- all in the boys' division with a season-best time of 17:30, six seconds behind Cham- bers. "Caden was right at the cut line again, so it real- ly hurts that he didn't get through, but he did what he had to and ran his best race of the year," Pike Central head coach Josh Roach said. "It just wasn't in the cards to get through." In addition, sophomore Colt Armstrong placed 63rd overall with a time of 18:41; senior Garrett Mang- es placed 81st overall with a season-best time of 19:44; senior Jacob Bohnert placed 83rd overall with a person- al record time of 19:49, best- ing his previous PR time of 19:58 by nine seconds; and sophomore Sam Theising placed 87th overall with a time of 20 :33. "We are pleased with the race from Saturday," Roach said. "Going into the race, we knew we were go- ing to have to have a great day for anyone to get in. We looked at things and gave them times and places to shoot for all week. They did a great job of executing the game plan." "The effort has been there all year and days like Satur- day are just the rewards they get for that effort," Roach added. "Everyone was ex- cited for the three that got through and we hope to have a great week leading into Saturday." next 11 points – including two on ace serves by senior Mor- gan Whann – to cut the defi- cit to 21-20. Western named to ISCA All-District team Pike Central High School senior forward Kyson West- ern has been named to the Indiana Soccer Coaches As- sociation All-District boys' soccer team for District 4. Kyson Western, who was recently named to the Pock- et Athletic Conference's All-Conference First Team for the third straight year, scored a total of 32 goals – falling just one short of the school record 33 goals scored by Colton White in 2016 – and had 22 assists as the Chargers went 15 -3-1, in- cluding a perfect 7-0 in the PAC to win their first-ever conference title. During his four-year high school career, Kyson West- ern scored a total of 87 goals – ranking second all- time in the PAC behind Gib- son Southern's Hunter De- Weese – while setting PAC records for most assists (76) and points (250). "I am proud of what our team has done at Pike Cen- tral while in high school, winning 15 games each of the last two years, along with a sectional title and an undefeated conference re- cord," Kyson Western said. "Our group wanted to leave our mark and do things that have not been done in Pike Central soccer. I am happy to be selected All-District but know that we won as a group, and I am only there because of my teammates." In addition, Pike Central head coach Chad Western was selected for the second year as the district's coach of the year for Class 1A/2A. "Coach of the year in 1A/2A boys' soccer is a great team accomplish- ment," Chad Western said. "This means the coaches and district see that we have had a great team, and did some great things. Our play- ers have been strong, and us being ranked in the top 10 all year, going undefeated in the PAC, and winning 15 times is why this happens." "(Assistant coaches) Ja- cob Western and Tanner Gray, along with our players, is why we get recognized as a staff for a great season," he added.
