3 Holiday Classic Insert December 9, 2011 Shasta Coaches: Chuck Crawford Colors: Purple, White City: Redding, CA Mascot: Wolves The Shasta Wolves Girls' basketball team comes back to the Red Bluff Holiday Classic. With last year's coach, Chuck Crawford, the Shasta girls' varsity team won 10 games and lost 15. They return with a different head coach, Aaron Lewis. Their first win was led by Lana Brown with 11 points and Alexis camp with 9. So far, with their new coach, they have won 4 games and have lost 2. The player of the week, Lana Brown, led the team in points and rebounds. They have recently won a tournament against Oroville at Shasta by 40-36. Aaron Lewis says, "What a great and exciting game today." He congrats the girls with a "Great Job" and is looking forward to the Harlan Carter tournament. Central Valley Coach: Tom Campbell Colors: Navy, White City: Shasta Lake, CA Mascot: Falcons basketball team will be coming to the 22nd The Central Valley boys' annual Holiday Classic Tournament. They are coached by Kevin Strohmayer. On the team there are seven seniors: Brett Atwood(6'2'', #10), Johnny Saephan(5'7'',#14), Alex Kale(5'8'', #15), Christian Spaschak(6'4'',#21), Randy McCarley(6'1'', #22), Carlos Mancasola(6'2'', #32) and Dylan Janulewicz. The school colors are navy and white. Central Valley is located at Shasta Lake. They are ranked 3-1 overall. They have not yet competed in league so they are not yet ranked. They average 60 points per game, eight assists, three blocks, 25 rebounds, 16 steals, and have a total of 240 points. Central Valley has only lost one game, it was to Damonte Ranch and it was by 14 points. They have won three games. One against Mt. Shasta by 30 points, one against Reed by 16 points and one against South Tahoe by 20 points. The Cardinals school colors are Red, White, and Black. Their head is coach Curt Eller and the assistant Regan Albee The Cardinals are in the Northern Athletic League and are in the northern section The coach says that the team brings a lot of school spirit and positive attitudes and according to the coach the seniors expect to compete "hard" in their final Classic. Last year they lost in the consolation game and the final record from last year was 4-12. The girls on the team are Mackenzie Peterson Marisa Vinson, Chelsea Dale, Erica Rivera, Maya Diera, Jenny Devers, Karlie Jennings, Shyanne Petty, Keara Terras, Gates Fears, Cand Pahua, and Rachel Bentz. Enterprise Coaches: Ray Herman, Dan Voorhees Colors: Black, Gold City: Redding, CA Mascot: Hornets Enterprise girls have a team record last year of 12-2 in league and 24-5 overall. In last year's playoffs, Enterprise had 74-33 against Foothill, Section Title 62-54 against Paradise and in the state playoffs Enterprise had 48-60 against Miramente. Probable starters are Veronica Diaz (senior/#32), Jaclyn Vanschooten (senior- #21), Jordan Kimbrough (freshman/#34), Mandi, McCue (sophomore/#33), and Shelby Cameron (senior/#12). The team's history records and unique facts are that Enterprise has 2 returning starters, and 6 returning letter winners. The team analysis strengths are returning experience; their weakness is post experience and expectations are contended for section title. Ferndale Coach: Kristina Christiansen Colors: Red, White City: Ferndale, CA Mascot: Wildcat Ferndale High School is coming to Red Bluff's Holiday Classic for the first time this year. They have a new coach this year to being them to Holiday Classic. The Wildcats sport the red and white colors for their school. Kristie Christiansen is the new varsity coach of the basketball girls. They are in sections in the North Coast Section and they are a division 6 school. Ferndale only has 150 students in their school. Names of the players are Mackenzie Burgess, Natalee Detrick, Sierra Early, Kayla Leonardo, Megan Early, Maci Brandstetter, Kendra Losa, Taryn Demille, Sadie Rayl, and Hannah Pichulo. The seniors are expecting the veteran experience, they have a team with 6 sophomores this year. Paradise Coaches: Jeff Wrobel Colors: Green, Gold, White City: Paradise, CA Mascot: Bobcat The varsity girls Paradise High School basketball team is back for the Red Bluff High School Holiday Classic. Their league has not yet started, but overall they have won 2 games, lost 3, and have no ties. Last year's league records were 11-2-0 and their overall record was 26-3-0. Joining the team this season is new coach Seth Roberts. The school colors for Paradise are green, gold, and white. The school mascot is Bobcats. The Paradise team has twelve players this year. Some are returning players. The names of the players are Mary Hansen, Gloria Morales, Amy Bell, Whitney Hanson, Cassidy Burnett, Kerstin Geishaker, Darian Horner, Tawny Graham, Jessica Jackson, Ariel Echeberry, Mackenzie Nye, and Michaela Mundt. Red Bluff Coach: Kathy Brandt Colors: Green, Gold City: Red Bluff, CA Mascot: Spartan The Red Bluff Spartans varsity girls' basketball team is returning for another Holiday Classic Tournament. This will be the 22nd tournament, it originated as a girls' basketball tournament and now includes boys basketball as well as wrestling. The Spartans have six seniors on the team: Ashley Brown(5'8'', #11), Lottie Jones(5'9'', #14), Alana Hinkston(5'8'', #21), Krista Rodriguez(5'9'',#24), Mariah Smith(5'5'', #32) and Cori Schatz(5'9'', #43). The Spartans, coached by Kathy Brandt, are ranked 1-2 overall and are ranked 0-0 due to the fact league has not started yet. They have lost two games, one against Durham by eight points and one against Pleasant Valley by 34 points. The Spartans have won one game by 10 points. The Spartans are from Red Bluff, California and their school colors are green and gold. Coach: Julie White, Eric Pro- scher Colors: Cardinal, Gold City: Cottonwood, CA Mascot: Eagles West Valley High School's varsity girls are returning once again for the Holiday Classic tournament with seven returning players including five seniors, one sophomore, and one junior. The remaining players are all juniors from last year's league championship JV team. "The group of Varsity girls this year is a terrific group of hard working students and people. The team has an average 3.87 grade point average, and is comprised of positive, respectful people who are good role models for other students on campus," said coach Julie White. The seniors will be looked toward for leadership on the court with fourth year varsity player Marleigh Ostrom and third year varsity player JayeCea McGrew. The seniors are looking forward to contributing to the team during their games at the Holiday Classic. West Valley
