Her name is Glenda Loftis and she will greet you with the sweetest smile and makes sure that you get the help that you need. Glenda has been involved at the Senior Center for over two (2) years. She is a member of the Red Hat Group and is involved in other events and activities at the Senior Center. There's all the food that has to be prepared for family and friend get togethers, shopping for presents, holiday parties, etc. De-Stress The Holidays It's enough to stress out a saint. Want to learn how to decrease and even eliminate the stress of the holidays? Then join the Neal Senior Center on November 9, 2011 at 1:30 for a special program, "De-Stress the Holidays," provided by Carolina Chiropractic Plus. The program will be held at the Neal Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC. This program is open to the general public as well as all seniors age 55 +, but pre-registration is required. Due to the large events this month and the Covered Dish Lunch Thanksgiving Holiday, there will be no covered dish lunch in November at the Neal Senior Center. Also, due to the holidays there will not be a covered dish lunch in December as well. Join us in January 2012 for our next luncheon. Holiday Bazaar/Flea Market What better way to kick-off the holiday season than by getting a head start on your holiday shopping at the Council on Aging/Senior Center's annual Holiday Bazaar/ Flea Market? The flea market is a new twist on this year's event. The vendors have lots of homemade and handmade items as well as new seasonal merchandise and some great flea market values that we're sure will please. The Senior Center is confident that you will find unique gifts and treasures for all ages amongst the handiwork and other items on sale. The 2011 Holiday Bazaar/Flea Market will be held, Friday, November 4th from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm in the Dover Wing of the Center at 100 TR Harris Drive, Shelby. The Senior Center's world famous, humungous country ham biscuits, along with plain biscuits will also be for sale. These biscuits are so good they go faster than you can say "biscuits," so come early and stay late. Persons interested in purchasing ham or plain biscuits in bulk need to contact Mary Hamrick at the Center (704-482-3488) by 5:00 pm on November 2nd. Biscuits will be $2.50 for country ham or $1.25 for plain or with butter and jelly. Pinto Plates will be on sale at a cost of $6.00 for lunch on Friday between the hours of 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and will include: pinto beans, slaw, turnip greens, cornbread, home- made dessert and beverage. Take out plates are available. Last but not least shoppers, visitors and vendors alike will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a home- made, afghan, porcelain doll and holiday basket. Tickets for the raffles are $1.00 each for the afghan, porcelain doll and holiday basket. You do not have to be present to win any of the raffles.
