Bass Clubs The Bass Casters will fish their February event on Lake Norman this Sunday. The Cleveland County Bass Club met Monday and were given their 2011 scehdule. All I have been able to get a hold of so far is Lake Wylie will be their first event in February. Tournaments Lots of tournaments, both annual events and trails kick-off this month, so be sure and get to a tackle store and get some entry forms and get on out and try your luck. I’ve never been much for hiking even though some of my friends love it. And I feel the same way about camping. I’ve often said that if I’m camping, there needs to be a hunting or fi shing trip involved somewhere. Otherwise I pre- fer a weekend getaway in a condo and breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. That idea goes for hiking as well. When I walk through the woods I can’t help but continually scout for signs of ani- mals I may want to hunt. I can’t imag- ine just walking through the woods to get to a place that has no hunting or fi shing value. But this is just me. I have, however, even had to change how I view more adventurous hunting and fi shing trips. At my age, I’m not too fond of rock pillows and sleeping bags. I like to sleep and wake up with- out unnecessary aches and pains. So a week in the wilderness, even when the fi shing is great, does not have the same appeal that it used to. My mind is still in it. My heart is still in it. My spirit of adventure is still hot. And I’m in pret- ty good shape for my age. But I guess I’ve really gotten used to security and comfort. This also scares me. The last thing I want to do in my Seth Lanning age 11, got his fi rst deer on 12/22/10. It weighed in at 120lbs. Seth was hunting with his grand- pa George Ledford. Seth had just recently received his Hunter Safety Certifi cate.
