Art People Karin Bremer Karin Bremer is a full-time metal- smith and jewelry designer working and designing in a collective studio space in Oneonta. Her primary medium is sterling silver, however much of her work incorporates elements of copper, brass, found objects, natural stone and colorful patinas or enamels. She exhibits and sells both locally and regionally at craft festivals throughout the year, at the Cooper- stown Art Association Craft Gallery and at Brewery Ommegang. Karin has also been teaching creative classes for children the past 11 years. She said she believes it is vital for a healthy society to foster a playful approach toward creativity and art at a young age. Her website is www.windfall.etsy. com. Karin will be exhibiting at her studio’s holiday sale, which is open to the public, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at 16-20 East End Ave. in Oneonta. The sale will feature the work of 10 area artists and crafters. “Design has continually been something I have gravitated to, whether it be via a pen, a brush, a torch or a hammer. I have always sought to balance my life through creativity and play, and working with metal has allowed me to sustain that. I create small pieces of beauty in the form of jewelry that people can wear as an expression of their own personal style, as well as an expression of myself as a designer.” 20 O-Town Scene Dec. 2, 2010
