DECEMBER 2010 – It's A Good Life Supplement To Shelby Shopper & Info Pre-registration is required at the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center for most Pre-Registration Policy programs, activities and special events held at the Senior Center. This allows the Center to prepare for the appropriate number of people, especially when space is limited or food preparation is involved. We request that you pre-register for any activity, program or special event you think you might want to attend. If after signing up, you find you will be unable to attend, please contact the Center and your name will be removed from the pre-registered participation list. It is much easier for the Senior Center to prepare for a few more persons who are unable to attend than for persons who show up without pre-registering. This helps reduce our operating costs and as the cost of most everything rises along with the cost of gasoline the Senior Center must be as conservative with our resources as possible. Thank you for helping us accomplish our goal of providing quality programs and activities while maintaining a tighter than usual budget. Classes, programs, seminars and activities will be cancelled without notice if no one pre-registers. Pre-registration should be made no later than 1 week prior to the class, program, seminar, etc in question. Pre-registrations will be taken after that if there are unusual circumstances or another date is published. Pre-registration may be accomplished in one of three ways: Phone – 704-482-3488; •Fax – 704-481-0151; or Email – labernethy@agingcouncil.org Senior's Lifestyle Publication - Page 3 Dover Foundation Makes Donation For Veteran's Day Celebration Gene Allen presents a donation to Paulette Putnam, Council on Aging Executive Director from The Dover Foundation for our Veterans Day Celebration. Prescription Drug Plan Enrollment Runs through Dec. 31 Once again, it’s time for North Carolina’s Medicare beneficiaries to make a decision End Of Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Fast Approaching Residents of West Warren Manor and Marion West Housing enjoy a lunch prepared by the Lunch Bunch. The Lunch Bunch You’ve heard the saying “There ain’t no free lunch” but the newly formed group, The Lunch Bunch, has proven that to be false. The Lunch Bunch is a team of 5 residents from West Warren Manor and Marion West Housing that plan, prepare, and serve wonderful lunches for all residents who wish to attend. There is no cost to residents to participate in this new ‘eat and greet’ program that takes place every Friday at the properties. Attendance at the luncheons continues to go up each Friday because the Lunch Bunch provides not only a great meal, but an atmosphere of friendship and fellowship where the residents continue to linger long after the meal is over. One look around the room con- firms it; smiles are served to everyone. The Housing staff extends its warmest thanks to The Lunch Bunch, Roxie Boyd, Marilyn Flint, Priscilla Hicks, Dottie Rinehart, and Norma Stoerrle, for their continued hard work and dedicated efforts to serve their communities. at Medical Arts Pharmacy is So Easy...
