How to Use a Map and Compass” – 2 pm. Join a Park Ranger to learn the fundamentals of map reading, identifica- tion of land features, and compass use. We want to invite any cancer survivors who are interested to ride on the float. Relay for Life supporters are also welcome to par- ticipate by riding or walking with the float. New Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder Now people living with depression or bipolar disorder will have a new place to find hope, help and support. The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will host regular, confidential, peer-led, self-help support group meetings on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Shelby. DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support which is an important component of recovery from mental ill- ness for many people. DBSA is the nation’s leading patient-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder. The organization has over 400 independent local chapters that operate over 1000 self-help support groups around the United States.
