We now turn the meteorological calendar to Winter for the next 3 months. Just in time for the new month, a new pattern also has taken shape. One where much colder air pours out of Canada, and we say goodbye to the 70 degree temps for a while. By Saturday, the first “clipper” of the season will be heading toward our moun- tains, laying down a small stripe of snow north of its track. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of flurries get as close by as Golden Valley on Saturday, but usually these don’t do much for us, just generate some sprinkles or a few clouds. After it goes by, we turn even colder, and the stage is set for a really cold outbreak as we get into next week. There’s one fly in the ointment though...a storm in California. There’s the outside chance it scoots east, trying to slide into the southern states with some wintry precip later next week, but for now its just something to watch. For the first week or so in December, you’ll be getting in the Christmas Spirit for sure with these temperatures.
