James was born June 25, 1929 in Cleveland County to the late Ostace Hamrick and Myrtle Vegrace Hamrick. He was a gradu- ate of Boiling Springs High School. James worked approximately 30 years for Burlington Industries before retirement. He held the dis- tinction of being the oldest member of Caroleen Baptist Church. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Irene Jones Hamrick; two brothers, four sisters and a niece. Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Peggy Randall of Newbury Park, CA and a host of niec- es, nephews and a multitude of friends. The funeral was held November 30 at Caroleen Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Evans officiating. John Hopler John Hopler, age 91 of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. John was born October 23, 1932 in Patterson, NJ to the late William John Hopler, Sr. and Edith Rhodes Hopler. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Medic Corpsman during the Korean war. John worked for Dover Textiles and as a truck driver for Chemical Lehman Tank Lines and Tri-City Concrete. He was also involved with the North American Aviation Aerospace program. John was a member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Teresa W. Hopler; son, Christopher Jones (Rob) of Alexis; daughter, Tina Moore of Shelby; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchil- dren. The funeral was held December 1 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cash and Rev. Steve Chappell officiating. Russell Lewis Ballew, Jr. Russell Lewis Ballew, Jr. born October 21, 1979, 44 years old, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was a resident of Spartanburg, SC and was born in Gastonia, NC to Cynthia Dennis and the late Russell Lewis Ballew, Sr. He is also predeceased by a sibling, Nichole Ballew. He was born to the late Roscoe and Mary Wilson in Gaston County. He is also predeceased by one broth- er, Lawson Wilson; brother- in-law, Robert Oakley. Stephanie Lynn Hollars Stephanie Lynn Hollars, age 52, of Cliffside, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Lynn was born August 13, 1971 in Cleveland County to Teressa Ledbetter Glover (Tommy) and Steve Wayne Hannon. She was a graduate of Chase High School, and Gardner-Webb University. Lynn worked in the Women's and Children's Center at Atrium Health- Cleveland for 26 years. She was a member of Pleasant View Community Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William "Pete" Ledbetter, Coleen White Ledbetter, Robert Hannon and Eva Walker Hannon; mother-in- law, Rene Smathers Hollars; father-in-law, Jack Franklin Hollars and uncle, Allen Clayton Humphries. In addition to her par- ents, those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 31 years, Steven Franklin Hollars; sons, Steven Austin Hollars and Avery Ryan Hollars (Katalyn) and her daughter, Maelyn Elizabeth Hollars (Justin); three grandkids, siblings, Amy Hannon, half-sister, Myra Petsemoie and half-brother, Scott Glover; aunt, Sylvia Humphries and several niec- es and nephews. Ronald Lee Driver Ronald Lee Driver, 72, of Forest City, NC, passed away November 29, 2023. Born to the late Charles and Dorothy Hall Driver, Ronald's life was marked by dedication, service, and love. For more than two decades, Ronnie served as the esteemed owner of Driver's Bodyshop in Forest City, and service manager at Friendship Nissan. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary McCraw Driver; his daugh- ters, Dottie Wilson (Ritchie) and Linda "Cissy" Vance; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his imme- diate family, he is remem- bered by his siblings, Kenneth Driver, Donald Driver, Matilda Hale, and Peggy Driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Madison Wilson, and sib- lings Bobby Driver, Douglas Driver, and Gary Driver. Victor was born November 28 in Honduras to Juan and Lydia Murillo of Honduras. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for many years. He was preceded in death by a son, Marbin Murillo. In addition to his par- ents, those left to treasure his memory are his wife, Dilcia Nunez Murillo; son Victor Murillo, Jr. (Marivel Hernandez); three grandchil- dren. Doris Mathis Baugham Palmer Doris Mathis Baugham Palmer, 96, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She is survived by her sons Bob Baugham and wife Billie, and Mark Baugham and step daugh- ter Kathy Palmer Speight (Gerald), grandson Bryan Gordon (Kristen) and son Lane, grandson Matt Gordon (Angel) and son Henry. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Doris was born in Wilkes County in 1927 to the late M.M. and Ruby Mathis and was preceded in death by husbands Marvin "Pete" Baugham and William "Bill" Palmer and her twin sister Dot Hamrick and husband Carson. Mrs. Palmer graduat- ed in 1945 from Roaring River High School. After High School, Doris grad- uated from King's College in Charlotte and worked for Southern Bearings Company. She worked for Cleveland County Register of Deeds and later at First Baptist Church. In the mid sixties she worked with Dr. T. R. Harris to estab- lish Cleveland Home Health Agency where she worked until she retired. Doris was lifelong mem- ber of First Baptist Church. Originally from Puerto Rico, she spent her life in Newburgh, NY, and later in North Carolina. She was born to the late Victoria Montalvo and Ramon Laboy Maria actively partici- pating and aiding the less fortunate at Evergreen United Holy Church in Salemburg. Survived by her chil- dren, Destiny Falcon, Katrina Peters, Jesus Rivera; step-children, Sierra Maise and Diamonte Ortiz; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
