Provided by Margaret Litton The American Cancer So- ciety (ACS) Relay For Life of Cleveland County invites the community to join the move- ment to honor and remember loved ones and fight back for lifesaving change on Saturday, May 20, 4 p.m., at Dover Foun- dation YMCA, located at 411 Cherryville Rd., Shelby. Relay For Life is a commu- nity of survivors, caregivers, local citizens, volunteers, and participants who believe that the future can be free from cancer and own the power to make that change. "We share a passion to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer," said Andrea White- sides "In 2023, and estimated 67,690 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in North Carolina alone. Thanks to that shared passion, the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Soci- ety can't be stopped, ensuring we are here for everyone who needs us." Relay For Life of Cleve- land County is sponsored by Walmart, Hurst Jaws of Life, the YMCA, Piedmont Plastic Sur- gery & Dermatology, C.A. Short, Hanes Brands Inc. of Kings Mountain, Shelby Nursery Inc., Greenheck, Sewell Contrac- tors Inc., But- ler's Tire & Auto Service, and Republic Ser- vices. There will be special rec- ognition for all survivors and caregivers as well as music and entertain- ment. F o r m o r e than 35 years, Relay For Life h a s j o i n e d c o m m u n i t i e s together to re- member loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the Ameri- can Cancer So- ciety save lives from cancer. Dollars raised each year by over 500,000 Relay participants across the country help at- tack all cancers in countless ways – funding and conducting break- through research, providing education, and advocating for the needs of cancer patients and their families, and providing essential services throughout their cancer journey.
