He was born January 18, 1962, in Cleveland County to the late James Gene Owens and the late Frances Walker Luco. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Owens, Chris Owens, Joseph Owens; and sister, Connie Gilbert. He is survived by his fiancé, Donna Gales; sister, Becky Barnette (Frank); and all his grandkids, and great grandkids. No formal services are planned at this time. Lanier, 68, of Blacksburg, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Surviving Mrs. Lanier are a son, Andrew Lanier, and a brother, Kenny Lanier. In addition to her parents, Forest and Myrtle Dover Lanier, Mrs. Lanier was pre- ceded in death by her son, Justin Adam Lanier. TROY LEE ANTHONY Troy Lee Anthony, age 50, of Grover, passed away on Saturday April 22, 2023. Born on May 6, 1972 to Edna Faye Williams and the late Joseph Aster Anthony, Jr. in Cleveland County. He is also predeceased by his brother, Charise Raymond Anthony. Troy leaves behind to cher- ish his memories his spouse, Brenda Anthony of Grover; sons, AJ Duncan and Allen Carpenter; daughters, Megan Callaway and Amber Mulkey; five grandsons; mother, Edna Faye Williams; and sisters, Samantha Navey of Shelby and Tina Jo Anthony of Panama City. She was born in Tuscarawas County, OH, daughter of the late James and Hazel Johnson Porter and was preceded in death by sisters, Faye Clark, Betty Baker, Doris Yuhas, Verna "Patty" Porter, and her brothers, Chester and Elmer Porter. CORENA MUNSEY COFFEY Corena Munsey Coffey, age 88, of Forest City, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023. Corena was born Monday, June 4, 1934 in Rutherford County. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Coffey; a grandson; a sister, Beatrice Melton; and brothers, Garnett, Elbert, C.C., Earl and Buster Munsey. Those left to cherish her memory include her daugh- ter, Vickey Doggett (Kurt) of Forest City; sons, Jerry Coffey of Forest City, Terry Coffey (Phyllis) of Ellenboro, Stanley Coffey of Forest City; sister, Sara Lowery of Cliffside; brother, Paul Munsey (Terry) of Forest City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Bruce was born Thursday, October 17, 1957 in Rutherford County to William Ray Hodge who resides in Forest City and the late Betty Campbell Ervin. Mr. Hodge served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his mother, he was pre- ceded in death by a daugh- ter, Debbie Hodge; sisters, Darlene Hodge, Donna Hodge and a stepbrother, Ken Ervin. Besides his father, those left to cherish his memo- ry include his wife, Martha Hodge; children, Brenda, Nicole, Brandon, Buffy and Diane; a number of grand- children; brothers, Billy Hodge of Shallotte, NC, Toney Ervin of Shelby, Jerry Ervin of Florida, Timmy Ervin of Florida and Ronnie Ervin of Shelby; sisters, Debbie Hodge (Ricky Brooks) of Ellenboro, Wanda Hodge of Union Mills, Cindy Evans of Spindale, Beverly Ervin of Florida and Gloria Holden of Florida. Born in Cleveland County, on March 20, 1942, he was the son of the late Earl C. Wease, Sr. and Laura Arrowood Wease. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Chapman Wease; a sister, Earline Marlowe and two brothers-in-law, Frank Curtis and Lafayette "Fet" Marlowe. Mr. Wease is survived by his two daughters, Sunni Crawford and husband Cliff of Huntersville and Lori Wease of Casar; a sister, Kathy Curtis; three grand- children, and a great grand- daughter.
