Carolyn was born January 2, 1945 in Rutherford County to the late Bunion D. Hensley and Queen Ester Mace Hensley. She worked in textiles and PPG for many years. Carolyn was a mem- ber of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy D. England; sisters, Barbara Bridges and Bardee Champion and brothers, J.D. and Jack Hensley. Those left to cher- ish fond memories include her husband of 48 years, Charles Lawson; son, Terry England (LeAnne) of Boiling Springs, and a daughter, Janice England of Ellenboro; one grandson, and three great-granddaughters. James Arthur Toney James Arthur Toney, 82, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Worth Eddith and Georgia Alma Gordon Toney. James was a mem- ber of Big Springs Baptist Church and retired from Carolina Freight Company. Left to cherish his mem- ories are sons, Darrell Toney and wife Kim, Steve Toney and wife Tina, Gary Toney and wife Michelle; daugh- ters, Elizabeth Ann Orbison and husband Danny, Shelley Davis; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will have a private service in order to honor James' wishes. Barbara Bridges Barbara Bridges, age 80, of Forest City, passed away, Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Barbara was born June 20, 1942 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Robert Wilson and Lucille Davis Wilson. She worked as a nurs- es aide for over 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Flay Taylor; second hus- band, James Bridges and a sister, Janie Hasseltine Brant. Glen Dale Hill Glen Dale Hill, age 76, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023. A native of Rutherford County, Glen was the son of the late JC and Hazel Vaughn Hill. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by son, David Hill, brothers, John Hill, and Bob Hill, and sister, Sybil Cudd. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Glen graduated from R-S Central, and he was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the co-owner of Hair Kutters in Rutherfordton since 1975. Glen enjoyed raising cattle and horses. Glen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Taylor Hill, daughter, Jessica Painter (Matt) of Belmont, sons, Thad Hill (Jamie) of Rutherfordton, Clint Hill (Robin) of Rutherfordton, sisters, Annie Belle Hodge (Harvey), Jean Morgan (the late Dean), and Leisa Greenway (Doug) all of Rutherfordton, sister-in- law, Janelle Hill of Forest City, brothers, Steve Hill (Helen) of Rutherfordton, and Charles Hill (Diane) of Forest City, nine grandchil- dren. The funeral was held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church February 7 with Rev. James Henson officiating. Military honors were provided by Rutherford County Honor Guard. Spencer Adam Lancaster S p e n c e r A d a m Lancaster, age 49, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Spencer was born July 25, 1973 in Rutherford County to the late Ricky Lancaster and Sheila McSwain. He was a grad- uate of R-S Central High School and worked in tex- tiles for many years. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and was presently attending the Dallas Church of God. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his son, Caleb Lancaster. Those left to cherish fond memories include his sisters, Jami Aman (Josh) of Greer, SC and Shaylon Tucker of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren, a spe- cial brother, Kirk Biddix of Morganton and four nieces. Lesa Ledbetter Lesa Ledbetter, age 56, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Lesa was born March 8, 1966 in Yancey County to the late Ray Street and Faye Ray Street. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years at Fair Haven Home. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Street and brother, Charlie Street. Bobby Davis Bobby Davis, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Bobby was born August 31, 1936 in Cleveland County to the late Everette Davis and Elizabeth Phillips Davis. He was a veteran of the Korean War while serving honorably in the US Air Force. Bobby worked as diesel mechanic, having worked for Tar Heel Ford in Charlotte and most recently for Thompson Contractors in Rutherfordton. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was presently attending Chase Baptist Church. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Davis, Jr.; grandson, Justin Ervin and sisters, Betty Conrad and Doris Benfield. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife of 39 years, Rachel Henson Davis; children, Dawn Davis of Charlotte, Debra Baxter of Forest City, Betty Yocum (Tony) of Maiden, Randy Ramsey (Sonia) of Salem, SC, Rhonda Miskowski (Rob) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Dawn Deck (John) of Rutherfordton, thir- teen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She worked as monitor technician at Atrium Health- Cleveland for 25 years. In addition to her par- ents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Dan Lee Mason.
