Chargers swim sweeps tri-meet By Andy Heuring Press-Dispatch Sports sports@pressdispatch.net Pike Central's boys and girls swim teams swept a tri- angle meet against South- ridge and South Spencer last Thursday. The Lady Chargers won eight events in the meet while putting 135 points on the board to easily outdistance second place South Spencer with 96 points and Southridge with 73. Senior Jillian Bailey had four wins. Individually she won the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.98. She also won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:10.24, five seconds ahead of second place. Bailey was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team of Shelby Keeker, Alex- is Oswalt and Addy Russell. The Chargers took first and second in the event with Jack- ie Berry, Ella Adams, Xavery Weisman and Ruby Sallee. Bailey later teamed with Russell, Weisman and Adams to win the 400 freestyle relay. Alexis Oswalt brought home three first place ribbons . She won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:14.21, which was sev- en seconds faster than second place. She teamed with Berry Keeker and Russell to win the 200 free relay by five seconds over second place in 2:03.69 as well as being part of the winning 200 medley relay. Weisman added an individu- al second place in the 500 free and the 200 individual medley to her first place finish in the 400 free relay. Berry took second in the 100 free and third in the 100 fly to go with a first in the 200 free relay. Easton Bailey placed third in the 200 free and Gabbie Col- lins was third in the 500 free. BOYS WIN NINE EVENTS TO BEAT REBELS AND RAIDERS Pike Central's boys won nine of the 12 events for a 143-79 win over South Spen- cer. Southridge was third with 20 points. The Charger boys had three swimmers win all three events they participated in. Ethan Mann was the 100 breaststroke winner in 1:18.27 with Jacoby Smith in second. Mann also teamed with Ty De- Coursey, Awstyn Luff and Co- bey McKinney to win the 200 medley relay. Chargers Con- ner Loveless, Smith, Jaden Nolan and Xander Parker placed second in the 200 med- ley relay. Mann was also part of the winning 400 free relay team with DeCoursey, Parker and Blaine Barnett. Pike Central's Carter Blackwell, Izaiah Le- mond, Loveless and Nolan took second in the 400 free. The Charger team of Luff, Mann, Smith and McKinney made a sweep of all three re- lays winning the 200 free re- lay in a time of 1:45.84. McKinney won the 50 free in 25.32 and the 100 free in 58.55 to go along with his 200 free relay win. Awstyn Luff was the other Charger to win three events. Luff won the 100 fly in a time of 1:00.55 and the 200 IM in a time of 2:30.92 to go with his medley relay win. Barnett placed second in the 200 free along with his re- lay results. Ty DeCoursey was second in the 100 backstroke to go with his firsts in the 200 med- ley relay and 400 free relay. Markis Hutchinson won the diving competition for the Chargers.
