Jenkins qualifies for NBHA Youth World Championships Kylie Jenkins of Otwell qual- ified this year for the National Barrel Horse Association Youth World Championships and will be traveling to Perr y, Georgia to compete. Kylie has been riding hors- es ever since she was little and has been competing in barrel racing for several years. She recently received the Chalee Gilliland Foundation Inc. Scholarship. Chalee Gilliland was an 11 year old barrel racer who had Cystic Fibrosis, a life threaten- ing genetic disease that caus- es severe damage to the lungs and digestive system. She passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2012. Her parents, Robert and Susan, created a foundation to honor their daughter's end- less spirit by inspiring and em- powering others. Chalee had a heart for people and animals, especially horses. Just like Chalee, Kylie also loves horses, especially barrel racing. Pike Central softball award winners Pike Central announced their girls softball award winners recently at their season ending banquet. The Chargers were Sectional and Regional champions this season as they complied an 18 -7 record under first-year head coach Dustin Traylor. The Press-Dispatch can help deliver it to Pike and the surrounding counties. 812-354-8500 Robinson charged with theft By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A theft report and video from a June 2 incident at the Petersburg Hardware Store resulted in a theft of less than $750 warrant for Bran- don Martin Robinson this past week. Pike County Sheriff Depu- ty Buck Seger said in his re- port that Eric Smith had vid- eo as well as photos of a theft of a Milwaukee drill bit from the store. Brandon Martin Robinson, 29, 214N 10th St., Petersburg, was identified in several ways in connection with the theft according to Seger's report. The video shows a male taking a drill bit out of a pack- age, putting it in the pocket of his pants and then exit- ing the store. Sgt. Simmons identified the person and the Dodge truck in the video and Seger made several attempts to contact Robinson at 214N 10th St. He then filed a war- rant request for Robinson on July 15. Dale man arrested for strangulation By James Capozella Press-Dispatch News news@pressdispatch.net A domestic batter y call to central dispatch resulted in the Sunday evening arrest of Kenneth Cayle Elliott, 42, 411S Dunn St., Dale, after an investigation by county and city officers. McKala Viet, 24, reported that a physical domestic inci- dent took place with her boy- friend at 8041 E SR356, Ot- well according to the report. Pike County Deputy Clint Boger reported that Veit stat- ed Elliott had spit in her face, shoved her head and arm into a wall and showed visi- ble marks. She then sat down in a chair and Elliott began choking her which restrict- ed her breathing for about 10 seconds according to the report. Deputy Meadors said Viet had scratches and was starting to bruise on her arm and had red marks on her neck and right side of her face. Elliott left the residence walking east and was found by deputies Clint Boger Bri- ar Meadors and officer Tay- lor Deffendoll at the Delores Russell residence a short distance away. Elliott tested .051 BAC and was found to have a marijuana pipe in his backpack. Elliott was arrested on charges of domestic bat- ter y, domestic batter y, bodi- ly fluid and strangulation, and transported to the Pike County Jail.
